Track: Lime Rock Park
Configuration: Standard Lap Time:1.03.4 Tires: Direzza ZII Car: Stock 135i, with exception of Ferodo pads, track level brake fluid and the Dunlop ZIIs. Had a great, cool weather day at LRP with plenty of quality track time. In fact, SCDA opened up the last Intermediate 2 session to the advanced group so we had an extra session of track time with very few cars to share it with. Nothing wrong with that. I was able to get into a good groove and put up a new personal best time (starting at 1:38 in the vid). Pretty happy with the time a 135i can put up considering my car is basically a showroom stock 135i. Also, loving the ZIIs as they have great feel and seem to handle my abuse in stride. It will be interesting to see how many days they will last. |

225/40/18 and 255/35/18
Having some wider rubber up front would have been more helpful to dial out some of the understeer in slower turns (e.g. 2 & 3 at LRP) and I may do that in the future. But at the moment, just playing around with the front tire pressures and doing my best to drive around understeer issues helps minimize a lot of push in the slower corners. |

Driver Name: Spencer Track: Laguna Seca Configuration: Uhh n/a Lap Time: 1:48.8 Tires: Federal RS-RR Lots of traffic in my run group last weekend, have a 2017 goal of sub 1:46 which should be easy as I was running street camber on new coilovers that hadn't been aligned. |

Was at NJMP thunderbolt yesterday. Perfect day low 70s, low humidity, had the whole track almost by myself. There was one other car at the same time with me 2015 VETTE Z51 . Will post the video of me chasing him later after I find those laps.
But now I am posting a lap from yesterday- My personal best lap time ever on this track. Tires-255/265 Bridgestone RE-71R. Here we go: Lap time was 01:34.64. Virtual best was 01:33. 75. Very impressed by these tires, but front left got almost destroyed after only the second track day. Need more neg. camber, but I am already running -3.2 up front. Car was understeering heavily in T 7. lost ton of speed there. With -4 camber up front I can bring the lap time down to 1:32 I think. Which is pretty fast for a daily driver I think. So we have a nice car ladies and gentlemen, that can compete and beat more focused and more expensive sports cars.

Those springs are about 1/2 inch lower than stock. E92m3 front sway bar, m3 RSFBs, M3 control arms and GC c. plates set to -3.2F/2/R Passenger front and rear seats removed. Everything else is stock. I think with hoosier R7 I can bring my lap times down to 1:32 easily. However, my set up is far from perfect. I still have stock diff., MCS coilovers would make a huge difference in lap time department, but the biggest issue with this car is inability to fit really wide tires F/R. I thought about wide body kit, but chose not to do it as this is my daily driver. Very fun on the street and on the track, surprise a lot of so called fast cars during DE events . But now, after driving it for 7 years, I am getting tired of it and thinking about M2. That car with MCS 1WNR / c.plates on R7 tires should be much faster than my 135i and most other fast cars.

Honestly, I have no idea if the lap time is good or not. It doesn't really matter to me. I think driving consistently is a much more important skill to practice than all out pace. I figured I would post for others to use as a comparison. I'm always interested in comparing/learning from others, so I figure I would contribute. If this helps someone at sometime, it would make me happy!
Glad you enjoyed the video! |
