Oil temp gauge not working

Hey all,
I have done some searching, but haven't been able to find anything. For some reason my oil temperature gauge stopped working yesterday. I can't be positive, but I think it may have happened after I hit a pretty big pot hole with my right front tire.

I did the instrument cluster self test, and the temp gauge (and everything else) is in working order.

When I hooked up a scan tool and the "live data" shows that the oil temp is -61, which is obviously incorrect. There were also some codes about "implausible oil pressure," and Carly gave a "003427: engine oil pressure sensor, electrical: short circuit to ground"

I have poked around a little bit, but don't really know what I am looking for. I am leaning towards replacing the pressure sensor, but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas first.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Most likely the wiring has been damaged or the plug has come loose.

Based on the two codes you've got, the pressure sensor isn't providing a valid signal.

Find the location of the sensor, check the plug and wiring to it. Could be that the big pothole you hit dislodged the pressure sensor plug.

Edit: You were right on the money Sam - It turns out a rodent chewed through the wires after making a huge nest behind my throttle body.
