2009 i drive...
WOW! What a slick system. Got a chance to play with it a few days ago, so easy, so intuitive, graphics are awesome! Here are some additional tidbits, most of you probably already know, but for those that don't:

Someone at Bimmerpost just posted up the training manual for the new idrive system. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163438

As always, big thanks to dbtheo for some helpful info!
I read through the training manual last night. I think the new idrive will be great! And in reality, it may save me some money, since I will no longer need to get the ipod/usb adapter. I was going to plug a flash drive into it, but no need now with the 12 gb internal storage for music. Also, I like the look of the refreshed 3 series. Looks good IMO. |

i think this might have sealed the deal for me, I remember watching a vid. where you can send google map directions from your home computer to your iDrive via wireless, is that still in the new iDrive?

Long shot, but is BMW going to offer any sort of upgrade to the "current" idrive system? I feel like I sort of got ripped off having just bought the old nav system in the last 3 months of it's life-cycle.

How is the "address entry" system - is it any easier? iDrive was not very good for entering addresses previously.
After seeing my friend's 2003 Acura nav system, I was definitely not buying iDrive - it sucks so bad compared to the old Acura system. |

What do you mean it's live on Google Maps now?

Go to: maps.google.com and find someting (pizza, Los angeles, CA for example). Click on one, and a balloon window comes up with choices like "Get Directions, Search Nearby, Send". Click "Send". On the left side, you will see choices like Email, Phone, Car, GPS. Choose "Car". For model, there are two choices, BMW and Mercedes Benz. Choose BMW, then country "BMW-US" then list the BMW Assist account name. So this will require BMW Assist in addition to Nav.

Actually, BMW Assist wasn't on the options list when I ordered my car so it's probably not even available here. Something to add to the next car...
