So getting back to the original point- on a street driven E8x, you aren’t fitting 245 up front without making some significant alterations. Stock ride height maybe, lowered no chance unless you have camber etc similar to you track-specific setup. I’m running about 1.5 of camber up front, and there is no way a 245 would clear the strut or the fender.

I’m sure it’s an awesome track setup though.
Actually drives wonderful.

With 0 toe, your tire wear is greatly reduced (since you're not fighting forward motion). With my DD tires the car doesn't tramline at all, surprisingly.

And yes, 245s up front requires work. I rolled my front fenders, 5mm spacer, and a high compression amount or else you're going to rub.

I lied!!! After 3 weeks of driving my 245/35/18's on 18x8.5 +45 mm rub the front struts. (Ever so slightly. No marks on the tire, but a few rubs on the strut)

Well I got the fronts on, no more rubbing. Ended up taking the oil cooler cover off, shimming the passanger side of oil cooler with about 5 composite shims screwed together to push the oil cooler about 5/8-3/4" towards the front of the car . Then used a bolt and special nut to pull the liner closer towards the front bumper. Had to shave off some of the plastic on the oil cooler cover where I put the shims. I'll post pics of what I did when I'm not on my phone. Unless you get down on your hands and knees and really look you would never know any work was done.

Apex did call me back in the midst of working on it and said only time they've heard of this issue on a stock suspension car is if the alignment is off from factory specs OR if the car had been in a front end collision which to my knowledge it never has.

Nice work! All the extreme performance tires are pretty meaty, not surprised RE-11s rub when others dont. I would bet you car hasn't been wrecked, just rubbing from the combo of tall and wide tire I think.

Here's a few photos of what I did. I thought I took some picks of the nut and bolt I used but I guess I forgot. Will take some tomorrow. The shim in the picture wasn't screwed in place yet and I had to trim more of it so I could put the oil cooler cover back on.

Wait I’m a little confused here. So you shimmed the core forward a little bit, ostensibly to remove any potential for debris or god forbid the tire somehow making serious contact with it. Makes sense.

But then you put the cover back on? Wasn’t the cover what you were rubbing against in the first place? I must be thinking about this wrong. Interested in your solution, as on full lock my 225 makes some contact with the oil cooler cover. It’s soft plastic and has been like this for over half a year, so not too worried. But would like to fix it if feasible.

By shimming the oil cooler forward there was now a space about a half inch to three quarter inch between oil cooler and fender liner. I Then drilled a hole in the bumper just above the brake duct and below the oil cooler all the way through the fender liner. Then I inserted the bolt through the front of the bumper and into liner. As I tightened the bolt it pulled the liner towards the bumper. Cut off the excess bolt flush with the nut so it's not protruding into the liner. Then once I put the oil cooler cover back on I put two screws through the oil cooler cover into the liner to suck it in flush with the liner. Included a pic and circled the nut that pulled the liner forward and one of the screws pulling the oil cooler cover so it's more flush with the liner.

So you drilled a hole in the opening of the bumper just below the right air ducting where it connects to the fascia?? Can you get a picture of the bolt from the front of the car?

Also, what did you use to shim the cooler forward?

Just went and looked, the hole I drilled is actually to the left of the brake duct.

Used some composite wood shims you can get at any hardware store.

Fantastic, thanks for the picture. I might have to do this as well with the new setup that is going on in a couple weeks.

Shims are screwed on at the top of the cooler I assume?

No problem! Hopefully this thread will help anyone with the same problem I had. Thankfully it only rubbed on the passanger side, driver side clears fine at full lock. A quick trip to the hardware store and in less than an hour it was good to go. I will say be careful where you drill your hole through the bumper. I drilled a tiny hole first just deep enough to pierce the bumper. Then poked around with some 14 gauge electrical wire to make sure I wouldn't end up drilling through anything. There's was a small box with some wires going to it just below the oil cooler. No idea what it was, so just be cautious.

Shims were first screwed together then put two screws through the liner into the shims to hold them in place. You can see one of the two screws here.

So I’m on v701’s 18x8.5 et 45 with 245/40 re71r’s, stock sport suspension. No clue what my alignment specs are as I’ve not had it that long…

It doesn’t rub the strut (but it is super close) but it does seem to rub the bumper tab a bit.

I’ve got turner fixed camber plates on the way I’m going to try out. I’d love to keep the size but runs pretty good on bumps and the roads here are garbage so there are a lot of bumps. I’m trying to figure out what tires I’m going to next, going to see what the camber plates do for me.

It didn't seem like you were answering the original question, or asking a new question, just kind of pulling up an old thread for no particular reason.

I might ask the same of you, after your earlier post - So?

Not trying to fight, just wasn't sure if you knew the thread was so old. Happens often when people do searches, which is great, but then they later realize their intent was not met.

More just adding notes for when people do search.
