Taking Delivery of NEW 135 Today
Hey hiya all,
Well, today's the day. The day that after 2 horribly long weeks, I get back into an E82. YAY!!!!! So stoked. Quick history, BMW decided to repurchase my '08 135 due to multiple repair visits to get Comfort Access to work. System wouldn't let the car turn on, and often wouldn't unlock the doors either. So BMW stepped up bought the lemon back from me. That was 2 weeks ago. Since that time I have considered ordering, and also have been checking around to various dealers in California to see what inventory was available. Man, finding a Manual transmission car is SO tough!! My effort paid off big time. The day after Christmas, I was calling around to Bay Area BMW dealers, and found the perfect car with the guys up @ BMW of San Francisco. Our salesman, Kevin Thomas, checked the BMW inventory and was able to secure me a 2010 135 that was still on a ship bound for the west coast. With al of the options i was hoping to get, including heated seats ... fun!! This meant that we'd have to head up to the Bay Area to get the car. But that's ok, my girlfriend is from Berkeley, and it gives us a chance to go have a fun weekend in the bay area. Not like we ever need a reason to get out of town. Headed up to the Bay Area yesterday in a one-way rental from Enterprise (note: Dodge Avengers SUCK!!!!). And today we are up in Berkeley, getting ready to head over to the dealer in a few hours to pick up the new car. Then we are bound for our home in LA. Going to be taking some great fun backroads all along the way. HWY 35 out of San Francisco to Santa Cruz > HWY 1 to Monterey > spend the night in Monterey. Then Carmel Valley Road to some itty bitty HWY to HWY 229 > HWY 58 > HWY 33 & down into Ojai. Should be epic. We are caling it CALIFORNIA DELIVERY. I'll try and post some pics from the road.

Congratulations! I'm so glad you were able to find a car. And it sounds like a great way to break in the car. If you are going through Santa Maria you might want to hit state highway 135 so you can get a picture of your 135 on 135.
Have fun!

Hey hey yo yo ...
Thanks for all the congrats everyone. So very nice of you. Got the car ... YAY!!!!!!!! So happy. I had a differential failure towards the end of ownership on my prior 1er. It started to make the car really slow. So getting into the new beastie, and hitting the gas, it feels like the new 1er has more torque than my previous. MMMMMM, so nice. The iDrive is the newly updated version, wow what a great upgrade. Its like going from Mac OS 8.5 to OS X. Huge leap. Only bummer so far is the lack of ciggy lighter adaptor in the ash tray area. I have nowhere to plug in my radar detector, that's close to the windshield. We have the cable strung back to the center console ciggy lighter adaptor. Yesterday went down HWY 35 to HWY 9 to HWY 236, then onto HWY 1 for the drive into Monterey. And because the deal took a while, we did most of that at night. Bummer!! Heading out soon to go down Carmel Valley Road to HWY 101 then over to HWY 58. Thanks all, will post pics when we land at home. Internet connection at this hotel SU-SU-SUCKS.

Congrats on your new car, glad the old 1 didn't deter you from a NEW 1. Wish I had your roads and scenery here in TX (orginially from NORCAL).

Hey hey kiddies,
Back from our trip to pick up our new car. The drive back was, as I had hoped, epic. The entire drive was worth it, just to hit HWY 229. Such a fun road. 2 lane, no line, tons of banking. I'll try and post the movie we shot on the SLR as we drove down HWY 229. Only bummer is the vid is huge, and it looks a bit boring, somehow 70 MPH looks like about 30 MPH on camera. Hehehehe...

Radar detector install later today, as well as shadowline grills. Not sure what will be right after that. It's at the shop getting tint put on as I type this.

Oh and one thing I TOTALLY screwed up on. I allowed my BMW CCA to lapse last year for 2 months. And because of that lapse (not a full year as a member), I DO NOT get the $500 rebate that BMW CCA offers to you when you purchase a new BMW. Instead of re-upping my membership for $40 in March, I should have done it in Jan when it was due. Would have landed me $500 in my pocket ... DAMNIT!!!!!!
Word to all you that will be purchasing in the next 12 months ... get a BMW CCA membership NOW!!!
