how to protect new wheels?
so my wheels are finally getting delivered tomorrow according to UPS as they called me today to pay the duty ...but im excited none the less...i'd just like to ask if there is anything im supposed to do, like wax it or whatever to protect it from water drop stains, and to help the removal of brake dust easier? any input would be helpful!! thanks..

does wheel wax protect our aluminum rims (I have 162's) from brake dust stains and hard water stains? If so, I'll go get some. The water in phx is chock full o' minerals.... terrible hard water stains if I don't dry THOROUGHLY.

Although I did read one poster who mentioned the opposite...i.e. heat from the wheels hardened the wax, essentially baking in the dust and crud, but that may have been through extended neglect...

I tried some michelin rim brake dust repellant and it was completely useless, just FYI. I would just make sure to get them clean and keep them clean. I have waxed rims before, and I liked the results. But thats just me. You'll have to find your own happy medium. One of my friends neglects his wheels and car, and you can tell. The wheels are painted, so the up keep should be easy. Just dont get lazy
