When did you first want the new E90?
Ok...I don't know if this thread has been started before but I'm going to start it anyway. I was curious as to when all of you first saw the E90 and what moment you decided you wanted one? I first saw the pics of the new E90 in August last year on some spy shots website. As soon as I saw the pics, I was blown away. I knew I had to get that car! Like many of you, I have waited patiently since then - almost a year to the day when I first saw it, I will finally bring it home.

Initially, I didn't like the new E90 at all. Actually, that was my feeling with all of the new BMW designs. I absolutely hated the 7 series (though the redesign is begining to grow on me). The 5 series grew on me over a month or so. With the E90, I initially saw a few spyshots and hated the look.
In fact, I was VERY close to putting in an order for an E46 M3 after seeing the E90 design. I had wanted a BMW for so long and wanted to make sure I got one that "still looked good". But after seeing it at the NY Auto show, the body style began to grown on me. Maybe a month later I had the chance to test drive one (happened to stop by a dealer the day they got thier 3 demo models), and it completely changed my mind. Michael

I decided I want the E90 when I first saw the E60! I knew I loved the look but I also didn't want a 5 series. I decided then that if the new 3 series is anything close to the E60, I'm getting one! And the rest is history

I'd been looking at getting a CPO car for awhile and then came upon bimmerfest.com and saw the new e90's earlier this year and was sold.

i ordered the 545 of my dreams and then the dealer came back and told me that it wasnt going to happen and that i would have to wait 10+ weeks for the car and even then they probably would hold out till the 2006 550i... so i looked to my left saw that the 330i sittting in the showroom had the same specs minus SMG and HUD..... so i then decided to not wait and have that gorgeous e90..... the rest is history and i love my freakin car...

I was actually really interested in purchasing a 02-04 330Ci. I didnt really like the E90 style. But then i started to research it more (since an 04 Ci would cost me the same as a brand new).. and i really started to like it. I thought it was smooth, sexy, and sleek. So i decided to test drive one, and....... placed my deposit 30 mins later

When I saw the earlier pics I hated it, was very disappointed with the design and actually pissed off a bit. (i so wanted to stay in the BMW fold) I never really thought of it again until my CA called when the new 3's arrived at the dealership. I drove up, saw the car, it's a beautiful automobile!

I did not want an E90 at all when I first saw it. I thought it ugly and laden with ridiculous gadgets. I searched around for an E46, but I couldn't find a new one with the colors and options I wanted. I decided I might as well give the E90 a test drive and the rest is history. The design has grown on me a lot. I love the front end. The taillights aren't my favorite, but they're not terrible. All the new designs with the exception of the 5 have really grown on me. Those wacky feline eyebrows on the 5 still bug me. Luckily I prefer a smaller car so the 3s for me.

The leaked brochure from last summer disappointed me A LOT. Then the official press release pics made it up a little bit -- the car looked good from all angles but head on. Seeing it in person made me love it. Best design of the year

I wanted the E90 since BMW started leaking out information about it....each bit got me more and more excited, until I placed my first order in march, and then my REAL order in may! :-)
I LOVE my car...seeing lots on the roads, but I still get looks! |

I started car shopping in January and was considering the Saab 9-3 because it was several thousand cheaper than the 3 series but when I saw the pics of the e90, that was all it took.
I ordered the car (from Iraq) having never seen one, never sat in one and never driven one. I pick it up at noon today and believe it or not...I still have never driven an e90. Funny thing is...two friends that were with me did the exact same thing. |

The first time I sat in it in a dealers show room.
I was planning on trading in my 1999 E36 Cab on a 2003-2004 E46 Cab with M package, not M car. However, I'm 6'8" and was tired of squeezing into small cars. Really impressed with interior room of E90 and am extremely pleased with the car. Best I've ever had.

I first got interested in the e90 when I was just browsing through the BMWUSA.com website and found that they are having a reDESIGN 3 series. so I took a look at it and fell in love with it ever since. it's funny how when I first saw it they only had heritage on the website and I just would visit the website everyday hoping it would Update and show me more. it was around december when I first set eyes on the e90. I still liked it even though so many people thinks it's more uglier then the 04" 3 series.

At first I didn't like it when I saw the spy shots, I was like "what have they done" Then the brochure leaked and I was this is pretty nice but I never had any intentions on buying one because I already had my E46 M3 and they wife made it clear she didn't want a BMW because she was in love with Lexus . I came home on leave from Iraq and I said "let's go look at the new BMW" we went test drove and she couldn't stop talking about it , we went back that next week and ordered one, she is especially glad she didnt' give into me last year when I wanted to get an E46 3er. This car is awesome

I did not like it when I saw it in picture form (internet and magazines). But when the car arrived at the dealer as demo, I changed my mind after seeing it in person and test driving it. Test drove it Saturday and bought it the same day and traded my 2005 (325) for it.

back in mid April I was shopping for a new Audi A4. Down the street was BMW Candada's head office and a dealer. So I stopped into the BMW dealer to see the 2005 325XI, the dealers were selling off the remaining inventory. I asked the salesman about the 2006 and he took me into a locked compound @ head office it was like a maze had to go into 3 different card key access areasand there were about 10 E90's sitting there. I thought the car looked great! And the rest as they say is history .. got my car (from another dealer I gave the salesman a chance to match the deal but he could not) and I was one of the first cars delivered in Toronto.

Great stories everyone!! I am surprised to know that most of you did not like it on first glance. I think the same thing happened with the 5 and 7 series, a lot of ppl. didn't like it initially but now the style has grown on people, judging by how many there are on the road. I think BMW has outdone itself this time.
It also seems like many of you were going to buy another car and changed your mind at the last minute. I got tired of waiting for it at one point and I was almost going to buy a Red '03 325i but was convinced out of, thankfully. I would have been burning with envy everytime I saw the new E90 and kicked myself for not waiting. Patience is a great virtue. 3Series06: LOL, I was just like you - I would always check their website to see if they added material to the Faster, Sleeker, sections. I was always looking for new pics and information too! |
