Installed blue start/stop button.
Not terribly difficult, but the first tutorial to pop up was “supercarsean “ and he actually skipped over all the actual important stuff!

Plastic pry tools helped a lot. But pretty simple and just a few minutes.

Shower thoughts: I think I have personally torqued every bolt in my suspension/brakes/drivetrain up to the output of the transmission except for the bolts securing front sub-frame to the chassis and the bolts securing the front bearing-and-hub assemblies to the strut carrier.

And torqued a bunch of other stuff, too.

Agreed. Wife asked me the other day if I've completely taken the car apart and reassembled it at this point.

I am on my way to replace the oil filter housing gasket. Shouldn't be too bad over all.

just did mine, and bar anyone jumping on me, it took me hours and I still messed up and had to do redo it, in short, the 10 minute videos are tosh.

whilst you CAN get to the bolts with 1/4" you need more to break it, and a spanned and 1/4" wont cut it, I needed my 1/2" socket E10, so for that you need to pull the manifold (not all the way, but a few inches so you have room),

pull the airbox
drain the coolant using a syphon pump, pull the small hose from the back of the housing, be prepared to for the o ring to break as mine did

Had I known all this I would have been more prepared

I appreciate the tips! I'm not too worried over all. I'm not in a hurry today as is.

I was a bit worried about some other recalls I'd heard about,
tried several sites with my VIN including BMW and no open recalls on my car

FWIW, the blower fan recall is just to replace the wiring connection. does not replace the fan itself, or even need to remove the fan. I think they unplug it, and replace the last few inches with a new connector...

I'd need to do the hub mod and then I could use the 135i rear brakes to get the rear dead flush. I still have some camber I can add in the rear And could probably elongate the holes in the front mounts to get another .2-.3*

I think it looks pretty incredible but I might be biased.

It's going to take some work to make those fit. They'll look good though.

I believe there are three levels of remedy depending on how toasted your connector or harness is.

Finshed up lumbar support retrofit

Figured out the issue with my retrofitted lumbar support not working. The DIYs were written by guys with sports seats, they already had a pump for the bolsters and just were adding the second pump for the lumbar pads. I have comfort seats, and thus there was no power and ground for the pump in the car side of the wiring harness (pfennig-pinching Germans!).

I connected the pump power and ground to the main seat power and ground on the seat side, and it all works just fine now. Did the passenger seat too. Sooo much more comfortable now!

While they were apart, I added the seatbacks with the nets. Noticed an interesting difference between the 1-series version and the 3-series version (have those in my wagon that I added when it was new) - the 1-series seatbacks are not vinyl wrapped. I got mine from a scrapper in the UK for cheap, they are from an e82. Pfennig-pinching again... Kind of wished I had found some 3-series ones instead. But no big, I will rarely see them, but the nets are a nice place to put maps and such on trips. I can definitely see why the reviewers when these cars were new always mentioned the interiors being a touch cheap.

Gave her a nice bath this weekend too, inside and out. Then got sprinkled on today.

Next project, pulling the center console and installing the plug-in cup holder. Ran out of energy to do that this weekend.

Yea, the 1er can surprisingly fit many things that you think would be impossible. I thought I could never fit the car seat in mine, but it fits like a glove.

Ummmm, drove it to go fishing. Washed it yesterday including wheels and polished exhaust tips. Looking minty new. Had an old man the other day ask if it was new. I told him, "No, it's 8 years old now". He opened his eyes in amazement and said that he couldn't believe how new it looks. He nodded in respect for taking such good care of it and then got in his car and drove off.

Had some free time not being on service for the hurricane...

So, I cleaned up the engine bay reinstalled some aero gaskets, removed, serviced and changed the spring rate in my TiAL BOV, and installed my new iND shadow chrome kidney grilles to match the 1M sidemarkers.

That's a great look, but if you can find a set of double slats you're happy with it'll make for a nice way to modernize the front end

If I had F8x style DTM rings I'd go for the double slat for sure! Good example would be low135s car.

That said, I'm looking for more of the period (see: Bangle ) correct euro tuner style. I think double slats look out of place without the other modern BMW touches.
