[QUOTE=Petercat]If it is Flat-spotting from sitting overnight, wouldn't the ride smooth out as the tires get up to temperature? My motorcycles would do this after sitting all winter, but after a few miles, they would smooth out, back to normal. (Much softer compound though).QUOTE]
You would think but it does not seem to.

Just curious but, what psi are you all keeping your tires at?
I put 35 in front and 37 in the rear, but they were SUPER-inflated when I picked up the car in Munich. I wonder if this is a factor? |

Since, you dont have a shimmy with your car I dont think the jokes are all that funny.
It is very common in NJ/NY/Penn to get your money back if a car has the same problem 3 times and cant be fixed. BMWNA does not have to be nice. All you need is a lawyer and you can get evrything back within a few months. Dont crack on laws that you know nothing about.

Yea.... are you guys knocking on him serious ?
Like scott said, there is actually something called a lemon law, which is used against car makers all the time. Its varries in the exact detail from state to state, but hey are generally similar in that if the manufacturer can't fix the same problem after a few attemps (the number varries) in a certain time period (1 year, 2 years) then the manufacturer has to give you a full refund. Some states make you go through a mandatory arbitration with the state's representative there, others let you go straight to the refund. |

The Pennsylvania Lemon Law applies to new cars that suffer a nonconformity; a defect or condition, which substantially impairs the use, value or safety; that cannot be repaired after three attempts by an authorized manufacturer's dealership. This nonconformity must first occur within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. The Pennsylvania Lemon Law also applies to vehicles that are in the shop for repair thirty (30) or more calendar days during the first year.
So if your car is in the shop for 30 days... bam you get a refund. JVFan, the lemon law is well known here in the US.. doubting its existance is just crazy lol. We DO have a lemon law here that gets used all the time. Don't rip on the guy because you don't have the law where you live. BMW ENTHUSIASTS help each other out not bash each other.. I like to keep our tradition alive as do most people on here. Good luck on your saga Rocky, don't know why some people have to be jerks and harass you .. are you planning on getting another E90 or are you gone from BMWs after this experience ? |

Why some folks are being a jerk about rocky's shimmy issue is beyond me. Luckily, knock on wood, I don't have a shimmy problem. My E39 had a shimmy. The E39s were notorius for shimmies. I changed my tires, wheels, inflated, deflated and still couldn't get it 100% fixed. I got to a point where the shimmy was minor and "acceptable".
Rocky, best of luck to you.

In support of the validity of the 'Lemon-Law', I have to agree that it is most definitely VERY serious.
A girl I used to work with sued Audi over her A4 problems back in 2002, and she got every nickel back and then some. The car was back & forth to the dealer so much that she was always driving a loaner. However, it WAS a problem with the engine, such that her safety became an issue. |

I just came back form testing the "shimmy" at various speeds from 10 mph to 50mph, and......no shimmy. Car is rock solid. I will still need to do further high speed testing. I do know that sometimes, depending on your driving, brand new rotors can warp IF you overdo it early on. This has happened to me before, but never on a BMW. A little bit of a shimmy can result, but usually occurs when you're braking, not just moving forward @ 40-50 mph. |

I would be interested to see if Rocky had some kind of letter or something from BMWNA to attach so I could believe this thread a little more.

Some dudes could simmer a bit too...imo

Has anybody had a success story in resolving this? I have a slight, yet unacceptable shimmy at 50-60mph, sometimes very slight, sometimes very annoying.

I haven't had shimmy problem either. 2500+ miles and still going strong!
I just don't see how they say they would give your money back. Is there a Bulletin for this to prove it?

The '06 325i loaner I had two weeks ago had the shimmy problem. It was pretty bad. FYI, the first 2-3 years of E46 production had a very similar problem, it was suspension related.

The low profile tires cause the sterring to track slightly on roads with ruts, truck divots, etc, but I don't detect any unwarranted shimmy.
I'm calling BS on this one as well

I am very happy I don't have this shimmy problem. It sounds like it is truly a headache for the people unfortunate enough to have it.
So far, my car has had a few random electrical problems (that seem to clear up spontaneously), but for the most part has been trouble free. I hope this whole thing works out. By the way, I have the sport package with 18 inch run-flat tires. So far, I haven't had any problem with these tires and will likely replace them with the same model run-flats when they wear out. Michael
