2008 135i safety belt replacement -- new belt lacks wiring?

Hi all.

I find myself having to replace the front drivers' (left side: I'm in the USA) seat belt. realoem.com shows the BMW part number to be 72112996151, and photos on ecstuning for this part number appear equivalent to what I have in my car: a black safety belt with wiring to connect to [something].

ECS Tuning unfortunately claim that the part I want is no longer available. They point me instead at part number 72119114287 -- a beige safety belt with NO WIRING.

I'm confused about the disappearance of the wiring from the left-side front safety belt. It seems to me that if I pull the existing damaged belt (belt is fraying & on its way out) and swap in the new one which lacks the wiring, I'll get some sort of error on the dashboard about a faulty seat belt. I'd like to avoid spending $200 to trade one problem for another.

Can anyone explain the disappearance of the safety-belt wiring? Will the non-wired replacement safety belt cause the car to throw another error at me?

Thanks for any information.

ECS is incorrect. That belt ending in 287 is for an E92.

151 is a belt for an E82 so as long as your 135i is not a convertible then buy the 151 from another vendor or your local dealer instead.

2008 135i safety belt seatbelt replacement followup

Just following up, I ordered a replacement left-side (US Drivers' side) seatbelt for my car, BMW item number 72112996151, and installed it yesterday. I did the whole process with the car switched off, and was NOT given a seat-belt error code when I did eventually start the car.

In the past I mistakenly disconnected a seatbelt wiring harness while the car's power was turned on, and I needed to erase a seatbelt/airbag trouble-code, which was a PITA.

So: keep the car switched off when you're replacing your seatbelt. And thanks once more juld0zer, for giving me good information!
