Well stated, and very true.

Good chance he chose it due to its collect ability. The 1M continues to be desirable because of it's low production numbers, not necessarily because it is such a great car. So far most tests and driving impressions have given the M2 way more praises. As a matter of fact it finished dead last in a 4 way comparison against all 2-seriers models.

Flame suit on.
He said he prefers it to M2 period. It's on the Twitter feed. And some reviews looking at value and daily driving have picked 228 correctly because at inflated prices 1m is terrible value. Finally I'd you see carfection review for example, they love M2 but in end reviewer says he would also take 1M and get a workout. It's not for everyone and there are many better cars out there which everyine agrees but 1M still has something special that many still find appealing.

Eh, it could could have done worse. I wouldn't t worry about the flame suit, as I don't think many of us care.

1M rules for now until a special lightweight edition of M2 is released. If it has an analogue steering rack and manual box I'm in!!! 🤓

It won't happen but if they made such a car with hydraulic steering Id probably trade. Steering uber alles. Since it won't happen 1m will be king for a very very long time

Hmmmm.... 1M still rules for me.

The M2 got fatter.. not lighter.

And now The M2 competition is now within a stone of the M4 ..

Sold my M2.

Got a 1M.

It is so special, I can’t believe it. Absolutely amazing car!!! The steering is absolutely sublime. I always know 0-60 times and performance stats were overrated, but this car confirms it.

I am convinced the naysayers on Bimmerpost have never actuallly driven the car they pontificate about....

I have both. 1M is without any question the superior driver's car. As someone who doesn't track cars, it is conceivable to me that the M2 might be a better track car, I simply don't know. But for normal driving on public roads the 1M can't be beat.

The M2 has one feature that is superior to the 1M; it can be replaced, if need be. It's the only current production BMW car that I would even consider buying. But it is no 1M.

I really liked the M2. My gripes were auto-rev on the manual which can be coded off and the (steering) which is better than most. EPS steering is not as good as Hydraulic. A Hyrdaulic rack completely transforms the driving experience for me. Is the M2 a great car, absolutely, 1M is just more analogue.

Things I did like better on the M2. The rear diff is more predictable and the exhaust note stock vs stock has a little more burble than the 1M.
