I am cheap! AA headers instead of Supersprint too! And a custom exhaust!

Honestly I want the leather Recaro PPs, or see if I can fit some of the leather GT3 replicas inside. That'd be ideal.

What do you guys use to mount the factory seat belt buckle? Which kit is better VAC? I'm trying to do a fixed position no sliders for now. I have a sparco sprint 5 seat that I want to mount on the driver side but am clueless on what parts I need as far as floor mounts then what next for the seat mounts and belt buckle. Where can I go that's not going to break my wallet but still safe and repeatable.

we have bucket seats in our e82 with sliders, and in lowest position you couldn't see anything thru steering wheel.
i'm about 180cm height, and other drivers in our e82 about 185cm.

Alex @ Alpine MSS did mine. Basically remote coding to remove airbag lights and full occupy the seat for proper airbag deployment.

With my car, I had to have the stock seats *in* with no code in the system to code it out, FWIW.

Here's mine. I went with a custom half cage, Corbeau seats, and race tech harnesses. Love the set up

Are those FX1 pros? And what seat bracket did you use? Looking at purchasing some this weekend but after reading this form, I’m not sure if they’ll fit.

These are the fx1 pros, great beginner seat! I liked them for the time that I had them. The guy that built my cage when I had my 135 also made the seat the brackets for me.... mine are fixed even though you can't really tell from picture. Check out VAC. They make a wide variety of bases and side mounts that may work.

I put FX1 pros in my car with Brey-Krause mounts with zero issues. The mounts have the ability to mount the three point seatbelt or five/six point belts. Good stuff.

Bump - do we have any information on what the actual codes to be deactivated are?

Thanks,
Mark

The BK mounts also have an option for OEM electric sliders using an E30 window switch. Only adds ~4lbs or so for some pretty sweet functionality.

Mark,

The driver and passenger airbags need to be set to inactive. I highly recommend using BimmerGeeks.

What is the consequence? Will all airbags still go off in event of an accident?

I think it's just so the light isn't on. There are airbags in the OEM seats that aftermarket won't have.

Several items in the VO, both oc3 items, sidebag_links, sidebag_rechts, SPSBF_1, SBE1_1_CD, SPSF_1_CD, and active headrest if equipped, which will be both AKS lines. This is just going off of a friend's backup MRS file I coded for him. If you're doing it yourself I can look mine up later and share what I did. Also pretty sure sitzposition codes need to be inactive. There is a thread on M3post that I used to code out the lights.

If you prefer, whether for harness or shorter receptacle usage, you can also kill the buckle light and buckle tensioner, which I believe are the gurtkontact lines.

Thank you for this - if you could confirm the exact codes, it would be much appreciated.

Can you also confirm if this can be done in advance of removing the seats or if I have to do this concurrent with actually removing them (I guess I could just unplug them...)

Thanks!

Be mindful that I have a 2009 car, manual sport seats with power bolstering, there may have been changes since. I don't think it matters in which order you conduct the coding, better to let it throw codes to check in INPA, code out in the VO, check codes, rinse and repeat.

We are using a Sparco Evo in my wife's 135i, Sparco sliders, VAC bases. I'm 5'10" 230 and fit in the car with a helmet on by simply removing the lower cushion. Seat is mounted so she is comfortable (she is 5'4" about 130). Seat is very close to driver's door panel but doesn't hit. I used the receptacle from one of my E36 M3s seats so she can use the 3 point for occasional street driving.

I have a question I haven't seen answered in this thread. Can the airbags be coded off? The car's primary use is hillclimb/track, and she is still using the stock steering wheel. Don't want the airbag to go off in her face with a helmet on. If not has anyone found a simple way to make them all inactive?

The first few lines of the ABG/MR5 module appear to refer to primary and curtain airbags for driver and passenger. It may be as simple as coding them inactive.
