I love "no haggle price".....only $15k over orignal sticker..!!
I went to Carmax ONCE to sell my stepdads car who can't drive anymore. 2003 Chrysler 300 with 23,000 miles...they offered me $2,000!!..My low end road bike cost more than that... I sold it the next day on craigslist for $6,000...they are a joke....

Carmax just had one at the irvine, CA location in VO for 64k with 7k miles. It was pristine. I have to believe they got their price because in one weeks time it was gone. Not to be found in their online DB which means it sold, not moved.
I was interested but can't rationalize 64k for that car/toy. They are out there though. If someone really paid 64k then that is he value I suppose for a low mileage example. It does seem redunculous though. |

Wow, strong askingprices.
Can anybody get me the complete carmax 1m for sale link? the OP's link doesn't work for me. Edit: Got it. Sorry. Anyway, the US version doesn't normally come with iDrive screen? From 740, how many do have the screen? Cheers Robin |

Guys, this isn't surprising. Just a month+ ago we were seeing listings at $70k. They weren't selling at $70k.
Remember, list price != sale price. Also, those being listed at higher than palatable prices have been sitting for months. I've been tracking a few that have been on the market for several months now. Many of the driving school cars sat in dealer lots for ~5 months at $60k-$63k. |

This is the 4th 1M I've seen at CarMax this year. There are enough 1M's in the US (~740) that this is bound to happen. (Heck, they even get CLK63 Black Series cars... they've had two this year.) |

Remember that carmax provides a very unique service for many people in that they become the middle man for a sale of your vehicle thereby releasing you of any liability. Built into their process is lots of convenience for folks who don't want to bother with ads or people coming to their house to look at a car. Those people tend to be people with money and nice cars. The carmax in irvine has bought tons of 911s, Austin's, range rovers and fancy mercs. It makes sense and works for a lot of people.
I haven't had the best experience myself, but I am probably too cheap, or know that I don't want to pay the 2k or lots more for the middl man service. I do get it though. |

Indeed. I definitely understand the appeal. And yup, that's why I've also seen some Jaguar XKR-S's in their inventory. Interestingly enough, I haven't seen a single car over $99,999 though.

As for the 1M prices - they are what they are. I don't think too many "decent" ones (cars not in accidents or used by BMW at the PDC) are going for less than $60K these days.

It's still there, I just checked on their mobile website. looks like Einser just sold his (fully optioned with 18K miles) to Carmax for $54k. Can't wait to see that markup.

Dude, we should totally roll up there one time and see what happens!
The only AW owner I know from the boards is Dan and this isn't his car.

are they the devil? LOL itll be on their lot for about 62-63k if this car went to a bmw dealership, it'd be in the showroom for 69k if anything i made the next owner of this 1M a service!!! my tags were due next week, carmax gave a no bullshit instant cash offer so i took it. bought the car new for 53k out the door more than 2 years ago. i rotate new BMWs every 2 years, this was time for it to go, especially since i picked up the rubicon 3 weeks ago and my financial situation also changed. carmax was the absolute best deal in my case. might not be the best for everyone, but like a poster mentioned earlier, it's a solid firm offer. no lolly gagger, no delusional fools kicking tires, and no broke dicks trying to jew you down to nothing for your car....oh and that check they write you, it won't bounce |

Indeed. They're set up as bank drafts that introduce a slight delay before transferring the funds to your bank in order to ensure there are no issues with the Title on CarMax's part.
