Track Video - Buttonwillow CW #1

Just thought I'd share some video from yesterday at buttonwillow with NASA. I'm in HPDE 3 and I was first in line behind the group 4's. I have a line of cars behind me chasing me down. Fun time, turn the volume up to hear those Pirelli's squeal through the corners. It was hot and the track was getting more and more greasy as the day went on. My best times of the weekend was in the 2:18's. Harry's lap timer says my virtual best of the weekend is 2:16. Not as fast as I'd like, but considering the tires and conditions I think I did ok. Enjoy!

Rob, how did the enduro go? I had to take off Saturday afternoon. Do you have any video?

Man, it looks hot. I'm so done with summer track events down here. The full course looks fun, I've only run CW13. Sounds like you're fighting quite a bit of understeer still, but not sure if that's what it felt like. Hard to tell since we can't see your hands!

Yes, it was very hot!!! 100-110 Degrees. It was as much as a physical challenge as a car challenge. We were constantly drinking vitamin water and doing our best to continually flush our system.
Yes, lots of understeer and it's hard to tell if it is just the tires or if there's much more going on with the heat. The 220 treadwear pirellis were certainly not up for the challenge. Fun weekend though, had a great time with a great group of drivers.

Seems like my car is pretty comparable to a basic E36 M3 track car with slick/type track tires. Many of those cars and I were dicing it out all weekend and we had a great back and forth. Even a well sorted E46 and I had a few back and forths.
If I shed some weight, actually replaced my rotors/pads which are F'd, and got some good track tires I'd be pulling some fast laps. Then I'd need an LSD, half loop, racing seats, and then it becomes a whole new ballgame. Not sure I want to go down that road with this car since I still drive it on the street a lot.

I'd love to get a stoptech kit to start with and some good sticky tires and then it'd be a much faster car...

On a side note, this was my first track weekend with the M3 steering rack and it was such a huge improvement. Very different, and very cool. Loved it!

Hi, sorry for the delayed response, I'm not getting notices. Yes, we had a great result Saturday night. Had to manage the car in the heat but ended P1 in class and 14th overall.

NASA took some great shots, including this one.
