Wow! Figuring 15% driveline loss that's ~440 crank horsepower. Look out E92 M3!

3to1: Those are great questions! I'd like to hear them answered myself.

Having just spent time modding a supercharged engine, I agree with larryn that mods aren't always simply additive. Many of our answers will come from the 335 world since they have a great headstart. Generally, we can expect to see products/claims/theories advanced for a while. Some early adopters will pave the way for others to follow. And soon truths will emerge to replace the claims.

Hey 3to1, So my best bet if I'm looking for 400 crank hp is to go for the $1300 PROcede and the $700 downpipe? 440crank is a bit much!! I wouldnt mind just getting the PROcede because 370 is AMAZING, but 400hp sounds so much better. <--yes im neurotic, i know.

With the 335i's, the AT loses 15% to the wheels, the MT loses 13%.

So if your putting down 370whp with procede v2 +cat back exhaust on 93 octane (which you have at the pump in FL) you wouldn't even need a DP. Just a CB.

370whp = 420 crank approx.

Or you could do procede v2 with just a DP and stock CB exhaust, but you would end up with around 380 whp or 432 crank.

If you only want 400 crank, just get procede v2 and nothing else and run 93 octane (which is so much better for you car anyway) and you be there. Use Shell 93.

I'm planning on v2, tbe, fmic =450+ crank. Shiv's coming out with a tune (eventually) that's a high rpm max hp, low rpm limited torque toon. I wouldn't worry so much about drive train longevity/breaking issues is say the max torque was limited to 380 wt and max hp was say 400whp @6k, it's the massive low end torque that kills drivetrains not high rpm whp.

I would at least get v2 and dp with stock catback though. Because the bigger, catless dp will speed up spool times and decreast turbo lag. Some dp's are seeing max boost levels reached 400-600 rpm sooner with the same map as an example. WIth this setup you would easily still pass even ca emissions.

Thanks for the detailed advice man!!!

I live in a state with no emissions checking so it doesnt matter to me but a catless DP passing CA emissions testing? Running a catless DP would surely throw a CEL and that right there would fail you.

It has been proven not to throw a cel. Also, the 335i exhaust is full dual, with four total cats, two in each pipe, one in the dp one in the mid. If you only replace the dp but leave the stock cb with cats, you will pass ca emissions.

The n54 with direct injection and high operating temps are very emmissions friendly.

Eventually the stock turbos will cap HP gains, regardless of what other mods are done. It will be interesting to see who finds that limit first.

I imagine bringing a reasonably priced turbo BMW to market will generate a similar aftermarket response as seen with Subaru and Mitsu. The N54 seems to be a true piece of art and there will be too many itching to let it stretch it's legs. The market will come. Vishnu is a good place to start.

Also will there be an issue of chipping a FSI engine vs. the regular V6 on 335i.

I doubt it. Also it's an inline 6, which is a hallmark of BMWs. BMW doesn't make V6s.

I am a complete noobie when it comes to turbo charged engines so please forgive me. But since the 135i will use the same N54 engine found in the 335i in which we know Procede works, will the same Procede work with the 135i? And if so, will it also really improve gas mileage as Vishnu claims?

Alot of chip makers claim that, and it may be true if you just doddle your car around everywhere. But who gets a chip to do that?

I run fully catless and I pass inspection every year.
In NJ.

My Cobb reflash basically just lies on the OBDII report and says all the cats are fine.
I'm sure the ProCede does the same.
