2 unusual Noises

Hey all,

Since I purchased my car I've had this unusual noise I get while only on the highway. It seems to be triggered by over 60mph and/or higher rpms. The best way I can describe it is as a, "whining" noise. I had a friend take a ride with me to hear this noise and help diagnose it. He stated that it seems to be coming from the rear and may possibly be related to the differential

In this video I am on the highway and my foot is completely off the accelerator/throttle.

I purchased my 2008 135i with 41k miles and am now at 48k.

Any ideas?

Also, I've noticed this:

Seems to only be heard when the rpms are coming down. This is my 2nd 135i and I have had the waste gate rattle on the first one but this does not sound like it.

I have BMS Kittyless downpipes and a Berk race axleback. Stock mids with secondary cats.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not gonna lie I don't hear anything. Also, your second video is private so I can't see it. Why does your friend think it is differential related?

Listen very carefully in the first one because it's very subtle but if my fiancé can hear it then anyone can. It's not road noise and it's not from my exhaust. My friend believes it to be from the diff because for some reason he believes any, "whining" noise is related to the differential.

As for the 2nd video I now made it public

Second video is wastegate rattle for sure.

Wouldn't the rattle come from the front of the car? I had the waste gate rattle in my first 135i and it sounded different than this.

I can't tell where the noise is coming from in the video because I'm not there. If its coming from the front, its wastegate rattle. If it is coming out the tail pipe, I'm not sure.

I listened 5 more times. The first one I really don't hear anything. I guess I'd have to be along for the ride to help.

The second one sounds like a crow in your exhaust.
