Yeah totally!

The 1er was philosophically made exactly to echo the impact the 2002 had; in fact Bangle mentioned specifically that the E82 was designed for the US market. It never had that big of an impact on most buyers but to SOME of us who had been waiting since the E30 for a small coupe it had a big impact. Sure there were other coupes but this one was boxy and simple and great to drive.

I love all the E82 range. Would love to get a 128i at some point have thought about it many times...as a 2nd casual city car

I don't think I could see myself replacing a 1M - it felt too special and still somewhat practical (I had 4 people on short day trips)

M2C make sense as the next step but not strictly as a replacement (around here it seems every kid drives an M2 or M2C), nor would something like an Evora 400 or the new GT (less practical, just as rare and possibly rarer). P-cars dealers play hard to get though (I have heard the sales pitch that persuade you to get the GT4 on the lot rather than the upcoming 718 Cayman GT4)

Yeah, I’d keep that 1M forever. I can’t think of a cooler car built in the last few decades with a usable backseat.

I really enjoyed my 2001 Acura Integra Type R with back seats for my kids. The 1M performs the same tasks but at a higher level and with much more tech and luxury.

For me the only 1M replacement is a Porsche 911 or GT car.

Easy, if you don't need back seats! "It's a lot like nothing else."

In terms of the 1M coupes design it's the end.
They just won't be making car's like this anymore.

Honestly the 1M is almost impossible to beat for what I like in cars.
There was a 997.1 GT3 with rear seats added at great expense and care recently up for sale. That is the only car I thought well (maybe) I would trade, but even then the 1M just speaks to me as a total balanced package.

I can also see why others would want more, or a different experience, I will definitely buy a car just to do European Delivery, or wanting a new look, but as a driving experience there are very few on the planet that rival a 1M Coupe.

Saying that, one needs to value rear seats (they are a huge deal IMO) and I also think the car needs an aftermarket exhaust or mid-pipe to finish off the package. Also, it is not the flashiest car which is a huge plus IMO, but some might prefer more attention and this car outside of real enthusiasts is a sleeper, again something I love, but others may not appreciate.

The 1M was a car that grew on people. It was not love a first sight, nor was it love at conception. People hated the 1-Series headlights, and considered the 1M to be something other than a "real ///M car" because of its parts bin roots. Eventually the car grew on people, and now it is adored by many..........including myself. I've always liked the 1M, especially in VO.

Rear seats in a 911 are still a far cry from the rear seats of an E82. The E82 is WAY more spacious in back.
