Any below radio storage cubbies exist?

Every time I set my phone down in the car, I wish that there were a little storage cubby under the radio instead of a black panel. Just a little more storage would go a long way in our cars.

Google searches and looking at realoem diagrams hasn’t surfaced anything for me. Has anyone seen any sort of replacement for the black panel under the radio? Maybe some obscure euro-only option?

If you have iDrive, the radio goes all the way down behind the empty black panel. So no room for a storage cubby there. Not sure about non iDrive models though

I'd be interested in knowing about this too. Someone must know how to remove this panel. I have no heated seats so this panel in completely blank in my car. Too cold here now to be playing with plastic parts.

Ya, I don’t have idrive or heated seats, so empty panel and maybe room behind it. Maybe I’ll pull it apart this weekend just to look.

For a phone, I've purchased a console mount from ProClip. Fits great with no mods needed. Got a magnet from Amazon that has adhesive on the back that mounts to the ProClip.

Some euro cars had a small cubby in the knee bolster under the headlight switch area. We never got it in the states. I've tried to find one just for the novelty but they are nearly impossible to find. So I swapped out my ashtray for the storage cubby and it works just fine

The non-idrive Euro cars also had optional storage space in place of the screen. The parts are no loner available though. But the kit required you to cut into your dash for installation.
