Track day today, back at Summit Point Main. Car was great, but the tires are toast (RE-71R's), the brakes are in need of bleeding, and there's a new clunk from somewhere. Temps didn't pass 260 (oil), but that's still a little high for my tastes.

But holy cow, it was eager to slide I was having all sorts of fun. On my cool down lap I got thumbs-up from the people sitting in the grand stands in miataland (turns 5, 6, 7, and 8). I was sliding all over the place, and it was awesome. The car really feels like a proper sports car now!

Kind of venting...

Couple of days ago I realized my inspection is up at the end of the month and I cant find the registration renewal. This morning decided to hit the DMV and inspection station just to get it fixed. Everything is going decent until the inspection where they do a series of quick startups and shutdowns when they move each car through the inspection station. Some dumb policy about the cars cant be idling in the stations. Its hot today and im getting worried about all the cranks and lo and behold the car doesnt start. We put on jump packs but will not start and there is sufficient power. Now my car is holding up the inspection line and I eventually find out how to pop the DCT into neutral and we push the car out.

As I'm researching faults, using protool to read diagnostics, no CELs, nothing comes up. As Im researching deeper i find a thread with the same symptoms and solved but the site went down for maintenance. Thinking the monkeys at the inspection station burned out my starter motor or whatever, i relagated to getting a tow to the house. $120 later the tow drops off the car at home, I put the battery on a tender and goto a kids bday party.

I get back later and pull up that thread with the sypmtoms and solved and it was the starter cable. I move mines around and it didnt start, gave it one more push and the car started! Damn, if the site didnt go down for maintenance this morning. I probably couldve saved myself some time and a tow. (I could not pull up an archive of the thread either.)

I have two of those. Ordered one on Amazon, the vendor then cancelled my order or something like that, and I ordered another. The second one showed up, and then a few weeks later the first one did as well. Only paid for one.

Aside from a suitcase or backpack, the one I’m actually using hasn’t and won’t see much.

There’s also a slightly different version with a pattern that doesn’t match the all-weather floor mats.

Yeah, I definitely don't drive it slow. Coming from great windy back roads in PA to mostly highway and bridges in Florida I've just been driving it faster. Need to make sure the front end stays together for those 150+ early morning bridge pulls

Drove two hours to meet up with my cousin and his friends for some white water rafting action! It was a blast and the 1er made the 4hr round trip fun!

Mine gets a lot of use, from auto parts, to motorcycle forks. Even plants and mulch. Definitely worth it.

Ring gear bolts let go Bought from MFactory and torqued to their spec, with the required red loc-tite. At least the LSD unit seems undamaged. Now I need to find a low-mile donor diff, and swap the guts over (and maybe rebuild the LSD while it's out).

I need to see if MFactory will do anything about this. I have my doubts...

I guess my reservations about MFactory isn't so unfounded now.

Sorry both of you all are dealing with this. I stand by my statements earlier that MFactory needs to be held to task on these failures more than what they've done so far with affected units.

Damn, and MFactory has been top of my list for a while. I saw the other failures and figured it was one off, maybe a leftover from the days of a bad batch of bolts, but now I have major reservations.

Anybody want to recommend a diff for a DCT car? Mostly daily driven, lots of fun mountain/canyon runs, some track/autocross driving for fun here and there.

Nice!! I have the BMW All weather ones, but they are starting to wear through, especially were my heel rests on the floor in front of the brake/gas pedal. How does the hook attach to the car? The whole that the velcro puck is supposed to screw in to is super elongated on my car so it doesn't really stay in place anymore.

Unfortunately the hook goes in the same spot and screws in like the Velcro puck. You might be ok still. The liner fits pretty tight.

I'd like to know too. I haven't dug deeply into options as I don't have the coin to spend on a LSD at the moment. I would probably do suspension work first before diving into doing an LSD. But I wonder if Quaife or Wavetrac are options.

At one point Dinan had a diff for our cars. But that thing was stupid expensive. $4k if I remember correctly. I guess they didn't sell very many of them as it's been off their website for quite some time.

Probably not worth the cost honestly - Differential is last on my list in $ for fun factor. Unless you are trying to be competitive tracking, there's other things you can spend your money on that will return more smiles per dollar
