I looked at mine today, but didn't drive it. Has been sitting about a month now. I never intended to have a garage queen, but when it's snowy and salty I opt for my X3 every time. Anytime the roads are about to clear up and be pure asphalt again, it snows and we got a lot more salt thrown down.

You should see it now. I took some Christmas presents down to my mom over the weekend (she's been in the hospital, so she had to miss the annual gathering), and one of the items had glitter on it that shed all over the trunk.

It looks like I kidnapped a drag queen in my trunk now.

Oh, and I (re) installed this Induktiv qi phone charger in the glasses cubby today (since I have one of the nifty BMW sunglass holders that replaces the drivers' side grab handle). It's a reinstall as the original had a bad coil, so Mike from Induktiv sent me a replacement. Works a treat and minimizes random USB cables around the cabin.

Later this week, I'll (finally) get around to the BimmerLabs 130i flash, now that I have a replacement OBD2 adapter from BimmerGeeks. Crossing fingers I don't faff it up.

Dude, I just ordered mine! How did you mount it inside the tray? I've seen velcro, but that seems...not great. Really looking forward to having wireless charging in the 135!

The Velcro works surprisingly well. The unit itself is a good fit to the oddments tray, and the rubber mat in the bottom of the oddments tray - which is removed as part of the installation - is only held in by gravity and a little extrusion that extends through the hole through which you will thread the charger cable. The two Velcro pads on the bottom hold it in place while the two (just the soft part of Velcro) that are on the leading side closest to the shift lever keep it from wobbling in the tray. You are threading the electrical connector through the hole in the bottom, so that also helps hold the unit down since there is foam (or something) underneath the tray that pins the cable somewhat in place. I'm not doing a great job of explaining this, but trust me, it doesn't really move about.

(You can just *barely* see the soft Velcro pads that prevent wobbling in the photo above. They are not visible from the driver or passenger seats.)

Nah, you did a good job explaining it. The one thing I CAN'T have is any rattles from the install. Maybe I'll line the tray with a soft felt or something like the glove box has.

took the car through the touch less car wash the other day and had some water drip into the cabin through the dome lights... more investigating to come. anyone ever had this happen to them? my guess is a worn seal around sunroof or windshield.

Also check for blocked sunroof drains.

BMW Performance kidney grills installed. Parts for these cards are definitely getting harder to find. 😭

I have a leather case on my phone, which probably helps, but I haven't noticed any rattles when driving around at Derek-nominal. The electrical lead running through the hole in the bottom of the convenience tray really helps keep everything battened down.

I don't have it anymore, but with my E30, I used a worn-out piano string due to the relative stiffness as well as length, although the weedeater string is, IMO, a much better idea.

I've been waffling on these for my 128. Not sure if they'd work with a Deep Sea Blue Metallic paint scheme (although the shadowline trim around the windows looks quite good). Maybe I should just bite the bullet and if they don't work visually, put them up for sale...

Dude, I went back and forth on them for a year! What ended up being the deciding factor is that there’s not a single other bit of chrome on the whole car, other than the 135i badge. Shadowline trim around the glass and black polished exhaust tips mean that the front polished black kidney grills are a perfect match.

I’ll keep the old ones though, for the next owner, I’m case they want everything to be perfectly factory.

IMO, they look good in high contrast situations - like against grey, white, silver.

I'm not a fan of them against dark blue, or black.

On my car, the chrome only really matches the rear badge and the BMW PE tips. But, I'm sticking with the high contrast look, despite the shadow line trim.

YMMV.

I keep going back and forth on them on my LMB 128. It came that way to me, and I keep coming back to liking them with the shadowline trim and tinted windows, but maybe that I keep on reconsidering them means I should go back to stock <shrug>. I always have better ways of spending the discretionary 1er budget, though ("ooooh, aluminum pedals").

There's this sales thread from about 10 years back where blackout grilles look quite nice on a DSB 135i. Just not sure they'd work with my pre-LCI non-MSport front end.

Sunroof drains were definitely clogged. I tried the weed whacker string but it was just too much effort without getting the car up on jackstands so I ended up just blasting some compressed air down the lines.
