Got my ECS trailing arms in with sphericals from Bimmerworld. And...finally got one of the inner camber arm bushings out. Holy hell those things are a nightmare. No heat though, just a combination of local hardware to push them out.

Same reason why I haven’t done it yet lol. The throws are a little long for me even with new bushings and such.

Getting the new ones in will be a bitch. I'm using Superpro bushing for the trailing arm mounts, and trying to install them on the subframe has been a real pain. They keep wanting to go off center when I start driving them in. And with one of them, I didn't realize my driving socket was a little misaligned and now I effed up one of the bushing cups. Don't think it will make a difference. But it's still not quite centered so I gotta fight it some more.
It's windy as all goddamn hell otherwise I would be outside working on it.

I already got the trailing arm bushes in. They were indeed a bitch. I had one start to go off center but fixed it before it messed up. I found the best tool was a ball join clamp (rather than a thread rod) with a 1-1/2 black iron threaded pipe plug. I ground the threads off and got it to a hundredth or so less than the diameter of the actual bushing. You'll see how nicely it fits over the bushing and since it's fully round inside it allows the bushing to stay more straight. Also, dirt cheap!

Also, the camber arm bushings shouldn't be bad. They're two piece poly with no rubber sleeve so they should go in about as easily as my RSBD did.

Never a dull day with an N54. Radiator and upper coolant hose sprang leaks, but they're the original units from 2009, so can't be too mad. Ordered up OEM replacements. Debating if I should do lower hose as well, but it looks good to me, so I'm not sure I want to add that on now.

ResinThirteen where did you get the foam piece for the trim under the steering wheel and how did you install it?

Unfortunately, the foam piece isn't sold separately (as far as I know, so you have to replace the trim panel under the steering wheel.

Here are the part numbers for the different colors for the US market 1-series:

BEIGE 51452997388
ALASKAGRAU 51452997387
SCHWARZ 51459114417

I ended up getting the Euro market one, which has the little cubby, but you'd have to get that from overseas most likely.

Thought about the billet coolant hose flange?

Definitely on my list of improvements but now that you mention it, now would be a great time to do that one too. 🤙

Shifter install actually wasn’t bad.
I’ve been afraid to do the parking brake because I couldn’t figure out how to remove it without damage!

Thanks man but I found the color I needed. Space Gray.

Also added to the list...a steering wheel rewrap.

If you're in the area swap every hose you can reach. Anything from 2009 is living on borrowed time. If you haven't done your water pump and thermostat, I'd do those too.

...and don't forget the thin return hose to the expansion tank that runs along the top of the radiator.

Yup. Did the water pump and thermostat last year. Good tip--I'm gonna do the rest of the coolant hoses while I'm in there.

Ooh, good looking out. Ordered that one up, too.

In the meantime until the parts get here, I might go for some JB Weld or something like that for the hairline crack.

Thanks guys.

This was just the parking brake handle: basically peel back boot, pull handle off, and put the new one on, done. Took maybe 3 minutes

I have all bolt ons except DP and been driving Stage 1/1+
I'd like to briefly try out stage 2.
Has anyone tried MHD stage 2 on N55 with stock Downpipes, any issues?

Is the problem that stock DP create too much back pressure or temperature? my oil temp is already 25C lower than stock anyway

I did it. My car didn’t like stage 2 on the 1.8 map. Just didn’t act right, idle wasn’t smooth and it boost cut.

Ran great on stage 1+ with NO bolt ons.

I’ve since put the downpipe on and a BMS intake and put it on stage 2 on the 1.8 map. Runs great now.

Ordered up a replacement steering wheel and shifter since mine were beyond saving.

I'm looking for someone who will rewrap the wheel, but I want to find someone that'll use the OE BMW leather to do it, so I'm looking around.

In the meantime, BMW Parts Hub is running a promotion where anything over $501 gets up to $200 worth of shipping for free, so this stuff is coming asap!

Can't wait!
