Rays G25's 19" - UPDATED 12-08-2013

*UPDATE* Some higher quality photos have been uploaded. Old camera pics have been removed. Enjoy!
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=26

Hi all,

Picking up a set of Volk G25's in Mercury Silver for my 135i in a few weeks. Little bit concerned about rubbing so am posting here for someone with some experience to chime in. (I have read PSS run a little bit square).

I am running stock suspension and no fender roll.

The setup I am getting is as follows:
19x8 ET 48 Fronts
19x9 ET 50 Rears

with,
225/35/19 Michelin PSS Fronts
255/30/19 Michelin PSS Rears

Can anyone comment?

Good set up for an e82, in fact I think the fronts may be just a tad conservative. If you have any issues in the rear I'm sure a simple roll will fix that. Good looking wheels.

You should be just fine. Haven't seen these on a 1er yet.

That will definitely be a nice setup. Sizes are about as good as you can do although as Mtek mentions you actually might be better if you could order a slightly lower front offset (40ish) if it's available. The lower offset also might make the wheel look a little more concave.

If you do rub in the front it will be the strut side. It's gonna be very close but I think you'll have a couple of millimeters to spare. A 5mm spacer will fix it if it does rub the strut.

I think you'll occasionally rub the inner fender liner in the rear when your suspension fully compresses, such as with passenger and hitting bumps at speed. A fender roll will help a little, but these cars mainly rub where the fender connects to the rear bumper and you can't roll that area. You can heat it and bend it out a little.

It should be a great setup and no other better sized PSS's are available anyways.

Let us know when you get them on. I'm really interested in how the front works.

Thank you for the information guys. Very informative from people with experience with these cars.

I agree with your comments, most set-ups I have seen sit as a 45 and 50 offset front/rear. Unfortunately Volk don't make these wheels in any other size (in the 19") and have been specifically made for the 1er in these dimensions. I'm trusting volk to know what they're doing as they are one of top wheel manufacturers.

I will pickup a set of spacers just in-case and I'll inspect it when I have them installed. They don't host much anyway.

If I can avoid a fender roll with different tyres (I'd consider P-Zero's or AD08's) but I don't hear them as comparable to the PSS on these forums. I might also be considering BMW PS at some point after the install.

Here are some pics I took of the Rays catalog. I will post pics of them installed on the car in about 9 weeks; wheels are being manufactured for me - as one would expect not many people have given this set-up a go. Hopefully they turn out nice

EDIT
Before I bought the setup I calculated the variances compared to OEM. My calculation are as follows:

Stock set-up
18x7.5 ET49 Fronts on 215/40/R18
18x8.5 ET52 Rears on 245/35/R18

New Setup
Fronts
4mm closer to suspension/brakes
6mm father sticking out in fenders
6mm additional wheelwell fill
1.8% faster on speedometer

Rears
3mm closer to suspension/brakes
7mm father sticking out in fenders
4mm additional wheelwell fill
1.3% faster on speedometer

You shouldn't have a problem anywhere really. If you end up needing 3mm spacers, PM me and I have a few I could send you for the cost of shipping. Good choice of wheel and its great to see someone who's willing to spend a little extra on a quality wheel.

18x8 et45 fits just fine with a 235/40/18 tire for me. 3mm would make it the same

Hey thanks alot guys. All been very helpful. I hope it all works out...might go Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's to be on the safe side. The wheels will be fine, it's the hunka chunka PSS' that I'm worried about.

PS2's will let me install BMW PS or KW V3's with more room to spare. Any other tyre suggestions you guys might have?

Pete

Looked around for alternative tyres. I'm feeling the Continental 5P's might be a good alternative to the PSS's, but I cant find any feedback about them.

They are the standard Tyre on the C63, SLS, Audi TT RS etc. Hopefully these shit a little bit narrower in the shoulder so that I can avoid rubbing and lower the car a little bit (10mm).

I had Alafulgen SF-71s, which have the same spec rears, with 255/30/19 PSS. It did rub a little bit on one side but a small guard roll fixed it.

June 17th is the date for install. Not far to go now

I found some pics in HK of the wheels on a blue 135i I'm really looking forward to them now! The pics are of 19's on PSS.

Excellent wheels. I ran Volk GT-S on my old Z. They cost a pretty penny but the quality is top-notch.

Looking forward to seeing them on your ride.

Just had them installed today - absolutely in love. I'll be posting a huge shout out to the Aussie tyre place that organized them for me with some proper high resolution pics as well. For those who wanted to see pics asap, please see below . I am extremely happy with the fitment, quality and ride comfort. Goodyears are a bit loud on the road, but it will take a short while to soften up and wear in.

To answer the inevitable questions - Stock suspension. No spacers. Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 tyres - 225/35/19 Front, 255/30/19 Rear.

*Please see latest post for high quality pics*

Simple question and sorry to bump in your thread. I'm planning to get wheels that has 9x19 rear wheels et44. Do you think I can fit 255/30/19? Not lower and on stock suspension.

A lower offset will bring it further out in the fender. ET44 would make it 6mm further out in the wheel wells. I haven't measured it all up, but it would be damn close to rubbing when fully compressed. I would do a roll on ET44 to be safe. My tyres dont sit as wide as Michelins PSS so tyre choice may play a part.

I'm thinking to just go with 245/30/19 and pair it with 225/35/19 to avoid any problem. Any idea how wide Yokohama S Drive? So far Yokohama S Drive is my only option for that setup

245/30/19 might be a bit odd of a rolling diameter...im not sure. Make sure you run your things through a calculator before pulling the trigger:

No idea on the Yoko's buddy sorry!!

Thanks for info bud! By the way, should I compare the 245/30/19 with the stock rear rolling diameter or with the front 19"?
