DCT is welded. Unfortunately, all the e82/e88 differentials are welded except for the 2008-2010 AT. See the link below.

It's not as bad as you think the price delta is . you were going to pay for r&r of differential gear inside the pumpkin so maybe a couple of hundred difference from buying a bolted lsd and paying for the labor to install inside the pumpkin.
That's assuming you can live with the OE BMW LSD. The wavetec, quaife and multi-clutch systems will cost more if you go that route. What are you using the lsd for ... drifting or track? Edited to correct bad grammar |

I already have a 3.46 with a MFactory LSD.
Contemplating a DCT swap and was trying to be cheap by just buying a carrier. But If I have to pay machining plus a diff plus the carrier. I'm better off going with a M3 DCT vs the 335IS one. Cost difference is a wash and less work on my end. Not the path I wanted to take because theres nothing local to me. The 335IS stuff is. |
