135is delivered

I took delivery of my 135is on 8-21. I ordered it on 6-10 and it was ready at the dealer on 8-20.
It is everything that I expected (I ordered without test driving one). Mineral Grey, Oyster interior, premium pkg, heated seats and most importantly 6 speed manual.
I love the steering, the suspension is stiff enough but much more comfortable than my Z4 35i, and seats are comfortable.
This thing really does drive like a classic BMW.

Ooh so jealous. I think it is going to take much longer to get mine. Do you know if yours was a new order or were they able to modify an existing one?

Where are you located in AL? I'm in Dothan. I've seen a few people on the forums from AL, but none near me.

I ordered mine, so it was a new built for me. And yes it was a long wait, but I took a long vacation to distract myself from the wait

Good idea - wish I had time to vacation right now! I ordered mine on 7/14 and its not even on a boat yet so I doubt I'll have it within 2 months of ordering. Before Oct 1 would be really nice though...

Grew up in OH and a Big 10 fan (and grad) before I was transferred to AL (I'm what they call a damn yankee - I came down and stayed). Sure don't miss the weather, the overzealous state troopers or having to wear a front license plate.

I do like the Tide, but mostly because we like Saban in this household - he was the defensive coordinator for the Browns under Bellichek (before the move to Baltimore), so we've followed him along his varied and successful career path - can't argue with his results, that's for sure.

If you're up in Knoxville, I think you should take your new baby down 129 then over to Telico Plains and give her a proper introduction to meet the TN roads.

I actually live in Tellico Plains. I drive on the Cherohala and the Dragon often. We also have several less known great roads to drive out of the house. I also bicycle all of them. It is a great place to live if you are either a cyclist or driving enthusiast or both in my case. If you are ever up this way send me a message if you want to go driving together.

Thanks for the invite, I'm about due for another trip to the Cherohala, and as a local, you'll know the best roads.

While the dragon is impressive, I actually prefer the fast sweepers of the skyway. I drove it last fall, mid week and had it essentially to myself - was spectacular with a clear road and the leaves changing.

Send me a message when you're heading up, we will see what we can work out. I have go get past break in period before I can let loose driving the new 135i. It should not take long though as I drive about 1500 miles a month.

Your discussion is really making me look forward to my drive home to Ohio from the Performance Center next week!!! I am avoiding the Dragon for a few reasons, but open to any other suggestions that happen to be reasonably "along the way" between Spartanburg and Cincinnati!

You might consider hwy 28 between Franklin,NC and Bryson City,NC. Then proceed to Cherohala Skyway to Tellico,TN. Then you could take Hwy 360 from Tellico to near Maryville,TN. From there just proceed to the interstate and on your way home. Just one suggestion, but there are several other great routes.

I'm also interested in this. Especially "how many 135is cars have been shipped to the USA?"

Sorry gents, we don't have that final answer just yet.....

BP and I ran into a VIN issue in that once we passed VY60899 on 9/26, the next one in sequence (60900) is an X1x25d built in April.

This means they either shifted to another VIN sequence (which has been done 2x in the past), or that 60899 was the last and final one produced.

We are waiting a couple weeks to see if a new sequence shows up in any of the W+W shipping documents before we call the 1 series production "done"

As of 60899, there had been 609 "is" coupes total and BP had counted just under 300 verts.

Wow! If those numbers are accurate, then our cars are only slightly less rare than the 1M coupe!

Fantastic job! In the end, will we be able to tell what sequence our "135is" is in relation to the total built? Mine is WBAUC9C58DVY60206

yep....and since the 1M was only built as a Coupe then if we just count Coupes then the 'is' is a rarer car; that being said, the issue with the 135is for future collectability is that it is more of a 'special package' than it is an entirely different model. It's basically an optimized version of a 135i....but i have a feeling they will still be desirable in the future----not to 1M standards by any means, but on a different scale compared to standard 135i models.

Yeah, its not going to command as much of a price as the 1M, clearly. But I think it will be one of those neat tough-to-find models in the future.
