Dack,
a full set will set you back $350. little more expensive than cool carbons.

Not sure but I'm not worried about it. I check my brakes regularly

Ferodo's installed
Had my ss lines and Ferodo's installed yesterday...normal driving around town feels slightly better than stock and a tiny bit of noise when braking. In spirited driving felt great.
Sunday I'll do 4-5 laps on Nürburgring so I'll let you know. Dackel...I paid about 189 euros (without VAT plus discount) for the set of pads...BSA Motorsports out of Mannheim... http://www.bsa-motorsport.de/ Ask for Fabian and tell him Rick told you about the place. |

haven't gotten them yet because both of my track events were rained out. so I didn't wear out the brakes. Harold from HP Autowerks said he will be stocking them. otherwise, topbrakes.com carries them.

Guys,
What's is the exact model number for the ferrodo brake pad? I want to order from my local agent but they are not sure which is the model/part number for the 135i. Pardon me as in my country there is very little 135i. |

I put the Ferodo DS2500 pads on front and back. I have Stoptech BBK in front and stock in rear. I did Thunderhill raceway on August 13 and have been daily driving with them. They seem to be a really good choice for both track and street. At the track they have good consistant brake feel throuhout the braking zone and from the 1st lap to the last. Also for the street they feel consitant with good braking when cold. I have had very little noise with the DS2500. These pads seem to be a good choice for both a daily driver and track. Also thanks Harold at HP Autowerks for getting the pads to in time for Thunderhill.

Awesome...felt so totally confident with my brakes after the upgrades...not sure if I'd even go with slotted rotors as this worked great.
As for street, the other day I had just left work and some b*tch pulled out directly in front of me...she saw me and pulled out anyway. I slammed on the brakes and wow...they worked great cold. I'll be upgrading my 1M to Feredos when I get it. |

Anyone have a soft pedal on first application? Similar to air in the lines feeling? A friend just had them installed on his M3 brand new and you practically have to pump the pedal, even after bedding them in. I was about to pull the trigger on these until that. The noise is bad, but that may reduce with some miles. Soft pedal is concerning, and no there's no air in the system. We've tried bleeding them again and again not to mention the car still only has 140 miles on it....

We tried bedding them in, even more than required. Zero noise. Ended up swapping out the rear pads to stock and the pedal feel is now back to normal. Getting the rear pads replaced, shouldn't be a problem after that. Big props to Harold for his advise and superb customer service!

Installed my pads yesterday. They feel really good. Better cold bite than cool carbons. I noticed the rear pads were missing the two metal crowns on the rear pads. Not sure what is their purpose but it seems to block pads from sliding around. Not sure if it's ok to use them without the crowns. Anyone know if it's ok to use them this way?

By "crowns" I think you mean the spring clip? Their purpase to to prevent the pads from moving around in the saddle (pad slots) creating pad noise. Normally you should replace these 'springs" with every pad replacement.
Btw... I decided to go with BMW Performance drilled and sloted rotors and BMW pads. Once I heard the new(er) pads (after Sept/'10 production) produce less noise and dust - I was sold. I really like the initial pad "bite" when cold. And they do a great job of high speed braking. No noises and not so bad dusting. I really thought the sloted rotors would swiss chease my new pads. But they work well. I do notice the brakes work alot better in the rain or after washing my car! lol Btw... BMW says the drilled rotors save 2lbs per rotor. I find that hard to believe but... ? |

No not the spring clips but the actual pads have these two metal crowns that extend from the horns. Both oe and the cool carbons had these crowns but the ferodos didn't. Have to call Harold tomorrow.
Those rotors look good Dack!

I'm curious to hear your reviews on these. I have the ebc reds now and they're not as good as I remember them being on my past BMW's. (E30

I'll be at the track in a few weeks and I will post my reviews after. I like the pedal feel so far and the cold bite is pretty good actually better than cool carbons but not as strong as the oe pads.
