To add clarity, I think the e90 seats are 100% the same, including the side plastic piece over the airbag. The e92 seat positioning sensor is different than ours, I think the e90 is the same. e92 seats will throw seat positioning sensor codes and airbag codes that I believe can be coded out.
The seat's computer from my e92 m3 seat has different switches plugged in, but all electronic features work outside of lumbar. I still have heat and all movement functions aside from lumbar. So can you throw them in? 100%, they're the exact same size basically, rails are the same and they will plug in. Will there be issues? Yes, but I think they are easily resolved by someone who is car savvy or a shop (getting mine done by speedlogic). Heating element is the same as well, I might swap the heating element from my e82 base seat into the m3 seats, mine seems to get alot hotter. I'll put a swap thread up with pics when I get some time at work.

You can change the seats but the airback sensors are tricky. Here’s my successful swap.
