To add clarity, I think the e90 seats are 100% the same, including the side plastic piece over the airbag. The e92 seat positioning sensor is different than ours, I think the e90 is the same. e92 seats will throw seat positioning sensor codes and airbag codes that I believe can be coded out.
The seat's computer from my e92 m3 seat has different switches plugged in, but all electronic features work outside of lumbar. I still have heat and all movement functions aside from lumbar.

So can you throw them in? 100%, they're the exact same size basically, rails are the same and they will plug in. Will there be issues? Yes, but I think they are easily resolved by someone who is car savvy or a shop (getting mine done by speedlogic).

Heating element is the same as well, I might swap the heating element from my e82 base seat into the m3 seats, mine seems to get alot hotter.

I'll put a swap thread up with pics when I get some time at work.

I swapped f22 seats into my car. So with wiring mods f22 and f32, f82 seats will fit in e82s

You can change the seats but the airback sensors are tricky. Here’s my successful swap.

reason i am asking as the 1s sports seats are fixed, and i find a bit hard.
would be nice to have them to be able to move forward and have a bit more cushion.
sometime you want to drive and not have your head bouncing off the darn headrest.
nope?
