Ok well I've got the stock sound system, and I am looking for something better. I dont want huge subs in the back that consume my entire trunk, but what is the best option for me to a)better my sound quality and b)increase my bass?

^ how much are you willing to spend?

With $$$, you can always get custom option. No need to use up extra trunk
space. Upgraded speakers, and bigger 8" woofers powered by different amps,
etc etc. All can increase your sound quality, volume and extra bass.
There is just so much you can do.

I know several audiophiles that would disagree with you. Seriously, I think you have no clue as to how big the car audio market is. Your derogatory remarks are not appreciated either. If you don't agree that’s fine, but you are not helping out the original poster. If your comments are not going to be productive, then piss off.

I would also recommend seeing a doctor and getting on some prozac, because you are a very negative person and could use an upper.

Ok, to get back on track with this thread...

I have Logic 7 and I've always thought it's much better than the HK sound in my old E46.
Last week my E90 went in for the CIP upgrade, and the dealer gave me a std E46 as a loaner.
The difference is huge - I immediately noticed the distinct lack of clarity and bass. I repeat, L7 is a serious improvement and well worth the extra bucks!!!

does the L7 offer a fair amount of bass that can rumble your passengers to happiness?

Its good, but in my opinion you are not going to get bass that passengers are going to be awestruck by.

ok what would you guys say is the best alternative to a better sound system in my car. I really do want to avoid the huge box in my trunk but is there a way I can integrate a quality sound system (along with substantial) base into the car itself?

You aren't going to get more bass than the stock system without a sub. But the box doesn't have to be large at all. Theres some 10" subs that require only like .5 cubic feet of volume. If you are willing to spend some money, you can get a box fiberglassed to fit into one of the sides of the trunk and you will have a very small loss of trunk space.

^^ not to mention there is carbon fiber enclosure 10" sub system thats
really light in weight. Theres always an option for sound systems.

Luprang, as for upgrades, if you are happy with sound quality of your
stock system, just add a sub and you'll be happy with bass(if thats what you
are looking for). If not, get some quality component speaker systems
powered by extra amp(s).
but in this case, where logic 7 system is proven high quality and nice sounding,
you better be ready to spend alot of cash. Some high quality component
speakers can cost as high as $1000(ex. focal).

are you saying just pop out all the factory speakers and replace them with aftermarket ones into the original enclosures.

Wouldn't any audio fiddling void the bmw factory warranty.

^ if there is anything regarding audio warranty, i am sure it will void it.

perhaps, now that I actually have the vehicle and heard Logic 7 in person,
I don't see the reason why anyone wants to change it.
maybe add a subwoofer, but thats about it.

I just picked up my '08 335xi sedan containing a Logic7, upgrading from an '03 330cic with the "bmw professional" head unit and HK speakers. Not having to pay the extra money for the Logic7 might have warped my opinion on this, so take it as you will.

The Logic7 really makes the audio come alive! I've set the EQ back to factory and cranked the BASS and TREBLE and found no distortion at any volume. To test it further, I downloaded some bass dub heavy techno. The low-end seems to come out of the dash (though I am aware it's under my front seats) so fiddling with the fader to your liking will probably do you right.

I give it thumbs up!
