Reliability issue
Hi all,
I'm currently driving an '04 G35 sedan and am looking for a change. It can be quite fun to drive, but the various sqeeks and rattles can be a buzz-kill, especially when coupled with the sometimes, err, generous brake noise. The only BMW I've driven so far has been my sister's 2005 330ci, and even that was only a quick spin around the block. My wife being out of town next weekend means I finally have the chance to head down to Palm Springs BMW and go for a test drive. The only thing that has me worried is BMW's (undeserved?) reputation for reliability issues, especially in the first couple of production years for a given model. Is this the case for the new 3 series? I simply do not want a car that will require additional trips to the service department. Is this the wrong car for me? |

Hey i got my 325i on july 17th. I got it in a stick, which i had not had any practice with in about two years. So i was very hesitant in getting this car. Actually i really wanted a maxima, but my mother said i should spend my money on something that will still have value as well as still be really in in a few years. Now since i got it it has been nothing short of excellent. No problems what so ever. I mean i try to take extra good care of any car i have, but this car is very tough. U will be able to tell the first time u drive it. Even while test driving it the sales guy said go ahead and push it hard, just so i would fall even more in love withthe car. This is an easy decision for u as soon as u drive it man. The only minor flaw i had was that i had to put some windshield washer fluid in. thats it. And maintainence is free for 50,000 miles. That takes car of any unreliability problems.

Thanks, that's somewhat reassuring. I kind of wanted to get the reliability thing out of the way before I drive one because I have the feeling I'm going to want to buy it on the spot after a test drive.

My e90 has been problem free since I took delivery of it (over 4 months now). I have a couple squeaks and rattles but not as near as many as my previous autos. I was worried about reliability and I am plesantly surprised.

one thing that is very apparent to me that i find to be true is that if u treat a car good, it will do the same. B4 my e90ni had a used 2000 pontiac grand prix. that car was so good, the only problem that i had was i needed to replace the thermostat, which i did myself. that would be the only thing i miss about that car, the fact that they were easier and cheaper to repair. but i always changed the fluids before recommeded time intervals just to be safe and i was trouble free. do that with the e90 and u will be trouble free as well
