Small pool of buyers. Even smaller that it is in Canada. Giving up a lot of appreciation at that price point, but where are you going to get another one if your looking for ultra low miles/new?? Why is he selling now?

Perhaps Morgan Stanley knows. It's not 1m's they are discussing but still.

Morgan Stanley's auto team, led by Adam Jonas, has just issued a report detailing why they think used car prices could crash by up to 50% over the next 4-5 years.

honestly not that bad a price considering its ~75k usd, yes its expensive for a 1m but i guess not outrageous, Pacific BMW in Cali had a <1000 miles white one with a accident ding on the report going for 75k not too long ago. great example to buy if you want to put in a museum i guess hahaha i think i'd still do the same as i did buying mine, just buy one in the 40/50's and drive it away with that extra 25k sitting in your pocket a.k.a. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1367060

^ clean example for you canadian folks

*also note, any potential buyers you REALLY REALLY DO NOT WANT NAVI, TRUST ME, i regret it everyday, that being said, that white one is super sexy

Mine used to be Canadian (ex Toronto after a brief stay in Montreal) and has somewhat shy of 30,000 miles (50,000 km). After almost 2 years in the USA, she no longer says "eh?" at the end of every sentence.

For half a million USD in cold hard cash, she is yours . . . . . .

(after all, everything is fungible)

I can't imagine having the car without NAV. Why do you say people should not get it?

I have a 2006 M3 in addition to my 1M. While the 1M doesn't have navi, the navi in the M3 is terrible. Outdated, the graphics are primitive and it barely works. In another 5 years the navi in the 1M will feel the same.

Well, I don't use the iDrive for the navi..... I use it for everything else. And it is so much better than scrolling through the radio and having one or two lines of info.

1. Song selection
2. Phone
3. Maintenance
4. everything else

And maybe it is just me, but the dash looks "weird" without it there. Long story short, navi shami, it is everything else that it just makes so much better with than without.

edit: and cars with it seem to fetch more $ for some reason

By saying navi I meant the whole system. Technology moves on. When they first come out every system is perceived as convenient and cutting edge. In ten years you'll be able to control your car with your phone and the car will mirror that display and blah blah blah. The system in the 1M will feel antiquated and old. They always do.

basically the reasons GimmeanM gave plus:

1. Song selection (I usually just use the up and down buttons on the steering wheel)
2. Phone (Haven't used this feature yet, usually just Siri if I need to make a call/text)
3. Maintenance (Non-nav's can read these on their dash)
4. everything else (Only thing I think I'd miss is not seeing the album art of the song I'm playing)

that all being said, its probably just me being picky as its not the biggest deal breaker, you can always turn off the screen or use it to mirror your phone which i guess is one way to keep up with tech

if its not a bother though, all the more power to you, its just something that bothers me

So it will feel old in 10 years? And that's a reason not to buy an use for the first 10? I'm not sure I'm following here

The E46 is a great looking car; timeless. Fender fares, gills, good body lines, focused interior etc... (subjective, I know). The only thing that bothers me aesthetically is the ugly dumb 'atari' looking navigation unit. If it was simple I would convert the car to a non-navi. I turn if off first thing every time I get in the car. Only benefit is that it is lower in the dash below direct line of sight. The E82's navi is a pimple on top of the dash board. It will be an eyesore in the future. For a car that is a throwback to an enthusiast driver's focused package I feel like the navigation unit was an addendum that they know they needed to put in place. Currently, most people couldn't imagine spending ~$50k for a new car that did not have navigation, and so it was made available as an option.

My opinion is coming from the perspective that I plan to own the car for a long time and from that future perspective I'm glad my car did not have it. I did not buy my car new in 2011. Now, secondhand, I would not refuse a good 1M solely for the fact that it had navigation, but I would try to find one without. I also have a 2016 i3, and by comparison only 5 years later the E82 unit feels old and cumbersome.

Interesting - to me, I would argue that the iDrive method of doing almost everything with the car is still more advanced than doing it on the dash or with the stereo. I totally agree the iDrive in the 1M feels dated - but like I said, it feels 10 years newer than the old way. And yes, the key word is "To Me"
