Red face Newly installed cross drilled rotors and HPS pads

Just installed some new cross drilled rotors I picked up from ECS tuning. They were having a deal for front and rear rotors as well as pads and sensors for around $920 or so. I believe the deal is still ongoing if you would like to pick up a set.
This was my first time doing this and had a mechanic friend of mine help me out to teach me. I noticed that the rear brakes had those metal shims which we reinstalled with the new pads. But for the front brakes there were no shims at all and we just installed the pads in. (HPS pads have a metal material on the back but I do not believe that to be a shim) Took my little beast out and we noticed some slight "rotor" noise and a insignificant hum. Whether that's from the new pads or cross drilled rotors is my question. I've read that these rotors can make different noises compared to OEM. Should I look to purchase shims for the front pads as well? Not looking forward to taking off the caliper anymore as those bolts like to get seized. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE! My best friend laughs when I start geeking over cars she thinks a 20 yr old like myself should be worried over other things.

Very nice. I saw this deal as well. How is the braking now compared to stock? How's the dust?

Far worse things to geek out over than cars. Think we're all biased here though.

Are your rotors making noise under braking only, or always?

Altho not directly related to your hummm situation, many of us put a thin coat of Permatex "Disc Brake Quiet" or BavAuto "Noise Free" on the back of the pad, let sit min 6 hours, preferably over night, then install.

No more noise I think it was just the pads were brand stinking new. I did go through the bedding process two more times and that helped tremendously. I placed high temp grease behind the shims on all of them. Absolutely thrilled with the way the brakes feel after bleeding them as well. Goodbye squeaky brakes.
