Hey guys,

New owner of a used 2013 135i E88. In love.

Question - I have 2 antennas on my car. A shark fin in the center of the trunk and a black antenna whip on the driver's side rear panel. Is one for the radio and one for the HD radio?

Lol No. The shark fin is for the BMW road assistance services they offer. It could also be satellite rario I guess😜

My E88 didn’t have satellite radio and I didn’t like the idea of an antenna that didn’t really do anything. So, I bought the satellite radio mounting kit and found a used satellite radio unit on eBay. BMW claims to need a software flash to make it work, but as soon as you connect it properly, your radio head unit recognizes it and it works perfectly. I only wish my usb input would recognize my phone or old iPod for music. It has power but won’t recognize my devices.

I believe the fin is for satellite radio.

Correct, all the wiring exists, it just isn’t supplied with the satellite radio unit. It was a dealer installed option.
