Gill, how come on TireRack they're more expensive than the PS2s? 225/40/18 + 255/35/18: PS2 = $986 + shipping PSS = $1034? -Sorry if this was mentioned in thread already, too lazy to look through. |

Not sure since i haven't bothered to look at all sizes, but so long as a majority of the sizes are a lesser price, general description of the product can say its cheaper.

might want to consider going 265's in the rear per the Apex guys i talked to the 275 rear could cause unwanted under steer w/ the large rear and not equally large fronts. Although i don't know the rest of ur suspension set-up so maybe you are ok.

good point!

I've been reading both sides on this. People regretting getting 265s instead of 275s. Others seem to suggest like you to avoid an extreme staggered configuration. For the supersport, I will go conservative with the 265s.

What size do they have up front though. I think that is the key point. if you have a more extereme suspension w/ camber plates etc. you can put a bigger front which might negate the under steer problems. I guess another point is that you need to be driving pretty hard on public streets to induce understeer, which is not something i like to do since there is not a whole lot you can do as a driver to fix it...sliding off the road into a ditch does not sound like fun.

Well I guess I'll have to give in and go with 235/40 up front too. I wanted 245/35, but I guess a 235/40 PSS is better than a 245/35 PS2.
I'm also not really clear about how much camber I'd need for the 245/35. I have -1.5 now, and my installer says I should not add more. Last edited by GaryS; 03-10-2011 at 10:45 AM.. |

275's fit in the rear on our 9.5", but 265's are shorter, and most people won't be running 255's up front. You'll see better results with a narrower rear if you can't go extra wide up front.

The arc-8 guys need to get with Gill at tirerack and try and do a group discount. These seem to be a great new tire and release date is perfect timing with the expected ship date of the apex wheel group buy.

I would be very interested in both Gill's recommendation for a set on arc-8's with the performance suspension AND if we could work some kind of group buy for say tires + TPMS (+ mounting?)

The Michelin PS3's are out over here in Germany. I have been pricing tires this week and for 225's and 255's on my 18" M wheels... the PS3 are only 50 euros more for the set, over Conti SportContact3's.
The ContiSportContact3's are not sold in the USA. What I mean is there is a Conti tire sold in the USA with the same name but the Contact3's over here look nothing like the pics on TireRack's website. ? So... my question is... which tire would you guys go with? Contact3's or PS3's? My tire dealer over here says both tires are fairly equeal - but the PS3's will last long but don't handle as well as the Conti's. Also the Conti's have better wet performace - so he says. ? On a side note... this tire dealer says the max tire I can install on the factory alloys is 245's on the rear (8.5 inch) wheels. So... can I really get away with 255's? What IF I lower my car later on? Thanks Dackel |

you'll be perfectly fine with 255 on the rear even after lowering.

Yea... that is what I was thinking about going with(BMW Performance suspension kit). I think I am going to go with the PS3's in 225/255's. Btw... the guy at the German tire store asked me what kind of 5er I have and I told him I have a 1er!!! lol He said those are some beefy tires to put on a one. |
