1st Gear Low RPM Clunking Noise

I have a 2008 135i and when I go from a stop into first gear I get a clunking noise from the middle of the car. Ive been digging around and it could be one of the few things that is making that noise
1. Guibo
2. Center Support Bearing
3. Drive Shaft
4. Heatshield
5. Diff Bushings/bolt?

For reference, i had worked on my car and had to takeout the transmission to change the clutch and flywheel as well as other upgrades over the course of a couple months so my car was sitting, for about 2 weeks the drive shaft was laying on the ground while i had everything else off. Heat shield was also a little mangled when i put it back on. Gonna take off the heat shield and check out the components Ill also try to get a video of the sound inside the cabin.

I noticed you posted this a couple weeks ago—were you able to find where the noise was coming from?

I checked the underside and saw my Guibo was ripped so I have the replacement now and will replace it next weekend and see if that fixes the issue.

Please post up either way. I haven't looked under the car yet to see if I can find what's causing my noise, but it'll be getting new injectors next week, so I'm curious to see if that fixed your issue!

While you're in there.........It's a great time to get that center bearing done, too.

FWIW: The N54 cars with the earlier style transmissions have some of the clunkiest gear changes I have ever experienced in a modern car. Mine has been like that since new.

Sorry i took so long, had to do other things before I got to this. Injectors, Precision Raceworks ignition coils pulleys etc.

I just figured it out for me, My headshield got banged up and when i put that in it was right on the driveshaft. My Center Support Bearing got messed up

Holy crap!! That bearing is GONE. I've never seen anything like that.

Between the center bearing and torn guibo that could cause a lot of noise.

That's how mine looked basically.
I ended up getting a new driveshaft built. The stock U-Joint was junk and that's what took the bearing out. Having a driveshaft made cost me about $500 with a new carrier bearing.

Cost.
You need some type of slip yoke still. I don't know if that's something that's very common on a guibo setup or not. It'd be kinda a weird setup.
