If you haven't checked it out before, go take a drive through the Ojito wilderness south of Jemez springs where I live. Lots of moderately maintained roads that are great for hauling ass over.
I have ridden a bike on some of those roads.

So many good roads around. More curvy the better.

I'm just a guy that like to go sliding through the woods at high rates of speed. Should I start a build thread?

Yes.
I think all of us enjoy watching others work. LOL

I know personally the undercar protection stuff is of interest to me. I enjoy ice racing mine and I'm at a power level where I really should have more protection.

You coming to MN for Nemadji?

If I wanted a 1" lift, what's required and the challenges?

Rear is easy just get e90 convertible springs.

Front a bit harder. Cheep way see if you like the look/function get rubber spring blocks.

Do I have to worry about brake lines/adjustable links?

So lifting blocks should do just find?
about the e90 spring, will the strut still have enough travel?

Love this thread, tons of great information.

I'm actually starting my 128i rally build now as well. Where did you end up settling on the suspension? Any chance you have a parts list?

I've been interested in the Ceika suspension, but was told that they can only lower the car.

"unfortunately because of the rear suspension design which is shock and spring separated, it use special springs and we do not have springs long enough and soft enough for lift and gravel rally use.
You can only go lower than OEM"
