Seat options and info
Hi everyone,
I've done searching on this and there are a decent number of threads, but most of those did not have definitive answers. Just looking for some basic info. I sat in my friends M2C and now my seats have me more depressed than ever. I make monthly canyon runs in LA (malibu, azusa, angeles crest) and the biggest hindrance to me fully enjoying this car are the terrible seats. The M2C seats are amazing by the way. So we have an airbag in the driver seat, questions: 1. Are there any other BMW seats that can be bolted in that have far better bolstering that retain a side airbag? (i.e. m3/m4/m2 seats, etc). 2. Are the sport seats much better than the standard? Did the 335 comes with better seats that fit? 3. Are there aftermarket seats that retain the side airbag Okay, so if no to the above, I can stop pretending that my personal safety is a huge requirement: 1. Is it difficult to deal with airbag sensor,s i.e., if I swap to aftermarket (like Braum) is it easy to "code out" the airbag sensor warning and will all existing airbags function correctly. I am only look to swap the drivers seat, mostly looking at the Braum Venom R seat now. Is there a preferred racing type seat in the 1Addicts world? Best place to buy? I'm not looking for "Full Race Mode" type seats, just something that retains some level of comfort with actual side bolstering. I'm 6'1 180, lean build type. My factory seat feels like a love seat. Thanks in advance for helping me keep up with my buddie's car!

From your message sounds like you don't have the sport seats in your car - they are a big improvement IMO from non-sport. At your height, you would also potentially use the thigh extender/support they come with.
The sport seats are width adjustable, so the side/back bolsters will "clamp" down on your torso as you tighten the adjustment to what you like. They don't have as good shoulder support, but they are way better than the standard non-sport seats and should be plug and play for you. |

Yeah, the sport seats are widely considered "Gift From God" level comfort and support for the average aggressive daily driver. That said, they're not race seats. Pretty damn sweet tho, I love mine.
Might want to try a set before going overly aggressive for street driving.

If you're looking to change out your driver's seat, you've got to check out the sport seats, as mentioned above. I have them and think they're great!
May not be as good as the M2C seats, but definitely better than the standard seats in the 1er, assuming that's what you have. And, you know they'll fit properly. You can probably pick one up for a reasonable price out of a wrecked 1er at a junkyard. You can also check the for sale section here as well. PS - if you already have the sport seats and are looking for something even better, then just ignore us. lol

Same here. I have sport seats and before I bought the car I drove others without the sport seats. These seats are the perfect balance in my opinion.

While I'm very, very jelly of the M2 seats, this is just about getting bolstering and not using the steering wheel as an anchor. I don't have bolster control in my chairs, so I'm assuming I have standard seats. The search begins. Thank you to all.

The sport seats are part of the Sport and M Sport packages, fyi. But that doesn't mean you can't add them.

Found a couple of them on Car-Part for about 300$ in good condition. Really like the look of these sport seats.

The internet seems to think that the 335i sport seats fit the 135i, can anyone confirm or deny that?

They fit, as do the e92 M3 seats. Swap has happened multiple times on this forum. Same with the m3 seats, that's what I am thinking of buying now.

Here are mine according to bimmer.work
481 Sport Seats F Driver/front Passenger Sportsitze Fuer Fahrer/beifahrer The Wife has base seats in her X1, compared to my Sport seats. They are very very different. The Sport's have much more side bolstering on both the seat base and the back, extendable thigh support, adjustable side bolsters on the seat back (inflatable) and, on some, adjustable back support (moves vertically to support lower back)- I don't have this bit... Honest, there's noooo confusing the two

Ya car-part has a bunch of options, just need to find one in my local yard. Found a great deal on M3 seats, but they didn't have heat.

No, some wiring work is needed to swap from manual seats to electric.
