35% tint rear window not clear

I just got my car tinted last weekend, 35% all around except front windshield, it's been 5days now, so the tint should have settled quite a bit. The front looks good, but when I look thru the rear window via the rear view mirror, it looks cloudy . Especially at night, headlights of cars behind me seems to be "scattered". The defogger lines seems to be "Highlighted" by headlights from cars behind me. I can't even make out what car is following me (whether it's a cop or not, etc). During the day, it's not as bad, but still cannot read off any details on cars behind me. If I look thru it up close (car parked, and I'm sitting on the rear seats, or looking from the outside) it looks OK. I have never had 35% on the rear window and wonder if this is normal. I've cleaned the rear window as well, and I don't think it's just dirt on it. My Golf is tinted quite dark at the back, but I cannot remember what %, and it is always crystal clear. (I can't remember what brand film it is either)
So is this a bad tint job? Or bad quality film (Johnson Window Films-Charcol)? Or I've to wait for another week for the film to completely settle? I park the car in an open parking lot at work, and the sun here is HOT, that should speed up the process right?

Thanks

sounds like a bad tint. It should be clear not hazy or diffussed. You should be able to read signs and car details. I have a 35% and everything is clear.

I just did some research on Johnson Window Film, there were some post on http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index....hl=window+film
which said the rear windows tend to fuzzy. But that post was from 2003, not sure if they've fixed it. Anyone uses Johnson Window Film here?

sigh... should have just driven further and get Hyper Optix

My Llumar tint looks as good as the day I got it almost 4 years ago. It's pretty dark (5-10%) but really cuts down on the daytime heat and nighttime glare. nate

why? I'm not a fanboy or anything, just curious why you think that.

I've heard a lot of good things about Llumar on VWVortex. I *Think* the my golf is probably tinted using that. If that's the case, it really does last forever. I've that golf for 7yrs, color didn't fade that much and the color stays black... no purple at all. But since I've moved, the place I went to tint the golf was a bit far.

Now I really feel like a moron for not driving further to get a better tint. I'm gonna try to get the tint shop to redo the back, and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

I just had Llumar Axcess 30% installed. It looks fine in daylight, but this morning on the way to work (still dark), I was surprised that headlights reflected off the rear defroster lines vertically up and down several lines in either direction. I found this rather annoying. I've not had aftermarket tint before. Like the OP, I'm wondering if this is normal.

+1 for Llumar. I also got the info from vwvortex, and had it installed on my 06 GLI, I can confirm that it looked like new the entire time I owned it (traded for my 1er). I got my tint done at the BMW dealership, it's dark enough and looks great day and night. After spending so much time researching the Llumar for my GLI, I can't believe I didn't even ask BMW what kind of tint they were putting on.

I have 20% all around besides windshield. The company is 3M and I think the film is great, also I realized when I have a car behind me and I look out the side mirrors their lights reflect off my front windows because of the tints but you get used to it, a bunch of my buddies have tints and they said the same. As for the rear window I have no problem with lights reflecting or things being unclear. I hope when they redo it everything comes out alright.
