Not knowing any better is hardly an argument for doing something.

Correct- if you pulled the motor from an 08 z4mc you could put it in a 2007
Decided to go a different route with the engine. Putting a v10 in there
I was doing research into a v10 swap. I had one lined up from an 09 m6 w/ 6mt.

Pros of v10:
Sound
Power/torque
Cheaper parts than s65

Cons of v10:
Weight - weighs over 100lbs more than n54 which tips the weight distribution of the car

Fab work - requires a lot more fabrication work. Modifying subframe, propshaft, lsd, oil coolers, etc etc etc. I would likely start with e9x m3 subframes and lsd and make them work.

Electrical - wiring takes a specialized tech a lot of time. Mating the engine harness to the body harness and coding racks up hours. ( if u want ur car to work like factory)

Cost: despite parts less than the s65, labor is more. Expect to easily pay $25-30k all in if you do it right. The car will also need to be modified to support the v10. Coilovers with custom spring rates for the dynamic weight change along with brakes and a widebody of sorts to get extra rubber.

If I ever do a v10 swap, it will be into an e91 m3 wagon.
