Here is a video review of the Evo X and WRX STI. Enjoy.

Now we just need to see results from a 135 test.

Does the STi look faster than it is? It's a hatch that does 0-60 in under 5 seconds. I think it looks exactly like what it is: a rally car.

Ive owned a 03 evo and driven many 04-05 sti's. When i got word that the 135i was gonna have the TT n54 i got rid of my evo so I could start saving. Though the 135i shares some similar specs to the evo/sti market, its really hard to compare the 135i to them. I agree with sciamop, the 135i compares more with the rx-8/350z market by far. The evo/sti are econobox cars with loads of power to back it up. The 135i is a luxury vehicle with loads power. All have a butt load of power but attract totally diff. audiences. I myself, was tired of having a fast econobox and wanted something with more luxurious. The 135i should have the same luxuries as my rx-8 plus the power of the evo. Making the 135i a win win

Thats part of the problem. Too much rally not enough street.

Not liking its looks is a different thing entirely. The implication was that the others are "all show no go" types. That's silly, because aside from the too-big wing on the previous STi's, they're pretty mundane looking, though rugged. You just have to be wise and swap the wing and skip the gold wheels like I did.

Very very mature and well said. 50% on the STI/EVO forums feel the same way about you in regards to the 135i. The other 50% are such haters. I'm weird enough to understand both sides. My next car WILL be a BMW 135i.

It's funny bouncing back between www.nasioc.com and here. It makes it easy to point out, on both forums, those that just like cars and those that are sentimental fanboys.

I bet. I'm going to bookmark this thread. There are a lot of people on s2ki that bring up the STI/EVO everytime I start a thread about the 1. They arent aware of what the 135i is starting to do about those in the EVO/STI. I'm waiting for the right time to inform them...lol

I agree 100%. Some people are actually into performance cars and others are just chasing a badge.

The car isn't even out yet and you going to say it's better, no bias there. At least wait until these cars hit our shores.

Also the Evo is lower in price. Just because you can't get a 135i for below MSRP doesn't mean you can't get an Evo for less than MSRP. These are prices that anyone can get:

All "GSR" models as the MR is not yet available

Base Evo X= $31,944
Evo X with SSS= $33,694
Fully loaded Evo X with SSS and NAVI= $35,356

Base 135i= MSRP of $34,900

To get back on topic, I don't think a honest decision can't be made on the cars, until we drive the cars

Actually no - perhaps performance at a small budget.

If ultimate performance was the goal, there would not be a tall/heavy sedan bodyshell, there would not be 2-3 extra seats in the back etc.

Actually, scratch that. They were originally built as rally homologation cars - if Mitsu and Subie wanted to go rallying, they needed to build a few thousand of these cars. The fact that they could sell them at all (for a $15k premium over the mundane versions) I think came as a surprise to both manufacturers.

Later, Mitsu figured out they can apply a little spit&polish to their car and sell it for $5k more than they used to. Thus the Evo X...

The EVO X has a lot more technology in its chassis, brakes, awd, suspension than the 135i. I bet if they ever do a comparo on a road course, the evo x being heavier and slower in a straight line will demolish a 135i due to its superior grip, handling, braking.

Also, the EVO X isnt 5k more than the IX unless you're comparing a IX RS to a non existant RS EVO X in the USA. The cost between the two is a little more than a 1000 dollars. You add the better interior, AYC, bigger wheels/tires, and inflation into the mix and you're getting a lot more for the money than the previous generations.

The EVO X has only been out for two weeks and one shop already has it making near 350awhp/tq on 91 octane gas with nothing more than bolt ons. Theres currently no way to tune the ECU so thats pretty impressive.

The current STI is a far better car than past ones in terms of refinement. It feels very dialed in as a performance car, almost like an aftermarket-tuned car. Also, it handles unbelievably well, partly because of the tires it comes with from the factory. Simply unbelievable how well it stick in corners and shoots out of them like a slingshot. Its power delivery is uneventful, especially in the lower revs, but once it's on the boost it moves out.
Thats odd because the Car and Driver comparo said the new Sti suffers from terminal understeer.

3rd Place - Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Highs: Fantastic high-end engine grunt, supple ride, an interior worthy of the sticker price.
Lows: Vague, overly assisted steering; flaccid power below 4000 rpm, a chassis set to terminal understeer.
The Verdict: ROCK - Plenty of power in need of some finesse

Base 135i= MSRP of $34,900
Their are all kinds of previews out. Dont forget this is a 1 series forum. Bias..what do you expect.

In Canada, we'll see three Evolution trim levels, starting with the $41,498 GSR, (for the "purist" driver, according to Mitsubishi Canada), moving to the $47,498 MR and the fully-equipped $51,498 MR Premium (MR models are available in May).

WAAAAYYYYY to expensive for a Mitsubishi IMO. The 'fully-equipped' model is more then a base 335i sedan. Give your head a shake.

Seriously I can see the greatness in both the EVO and the STI. The price in CANADA makes it completely rediculous. If I want an STI I can find them slightly used in Ontario for ~25k.
