BOV's
I am looking to change the stock DV's with either an aftermarket DV or a BOV.
I understand that it is necessary to change the stock charge pipe if you want to run meth and they can leak boost with a high psi tune. With the stock DV's they hold the boost pressure in the pipe and can leak with high boost. My simplistic mine seems to think that losing boost with the stock charge pipe would not be a problem if you use either the Helix or AWE BOV that will fit on the stock connections. The pressure in the stock charge pipe should be significantly reduced if you are releasing boost to the atmosphere. Is this correct? If this is the case, then I cannot see why it would necessary to spend $250 on a charge pipe unless you want to run Meth or to use a universal BOV. |

Assuming the DV and BOV are tuned to vent at the same pressure and are holding boost, I don't think it matters whether you recirculate or vent to atmosphere. The leak would show up under boost, not when venting. I could be wrong?
