Another UK 1M in VO
I've been lurking on this site a while so I thought it was time to introduce my 1M. I bought it four months ago after enjoying a 120d MSport coupe for four years. It was time for a change and I loved my previous e82 so the 1M was a natural choice.
I certainly haven't been disappointed. Comparison with the 120d is interesting though the 1M is leagues ahead in most areas. Obviously it's a lot faster, corners better and feels a lot more solid. What I didn't expect is that it also rides better too, the 120 on run flats was very crashy over bad surfaces. It's pretty well loaded with every option I think except the HK audio. I do miss the front parking sensors though and am surprised that these are not available on the 1M. This is my daily driver in all seasons and has already racked up 33,000 miles. I've had a few issues so far: most annoying has been the front tyres rubbing on the wheel arch liners. It has been back to the dealer and had two sets of replacement arches as the first set didn't cure the problem. They assure me that the second set are the modified parts and so far they seem ok. The parking sensors have stopped working too as the control unit got wet as the fuel filler neck was letting water in. This has been fixed by the dealer too. So here are some pictures. It's completely standard and will probably stay that way. The number plate has changed as the M3 number went back to the previous owner after a few weeks. With my old 120d: |

Hi mate and welcome. Nice 1M you have there.
Funny, I recognise the number plate. I have passed that car a couple of times down here in Surrey when it belonged to the previous owner. Glad you pointed out the rubbing, my dealer couldn't find the issue so I will point them at the replacement parts. I'm also originally from Nottingham myself. Spooky. Whereabouts are you based? |

Welcome here.
I also had a 120d 5 door hatch in 2004/5 for half a year , great tossable little car. Most of all my previous BMWs had front PDC so I understand what you're saying. But hey it's not a big fat 5 or 7 series is it. Enjoy the greatest BMW since the E46 CSL Cheers Robin |

Nice car..seems to be a common problem with water ingress through the fuel filler neck.I also had this fix from my dealer.

Yes that would have been wierd! I don't drive mine much during week either using a bicycle most days.
Count me in for any mini meets, only been in Northampton about six months so don't know too much about the area. Last edited by Shost; 01-23-2013 at 08:20 AM.. |
