Maybe they got a complaint, that in Canada, the engraving needs to be bilingual..:iono:

LOL that would be hilarious, but considering the level of attention Canadians (not all - I mean government generally) puts into insuring that EVERYTHING IS COMPLETELY EQUAL, I wouldn't be shocked to hear that they made BMW stop it because the message was not also written in French. Or they said in Quebec it has to be written bilingual/French so BMW just stopped putting the message for us - stupid and unlikely but I wouldn't be shocked!

I hope my car has the engraving, and I hope I get the book too. Not the reason I chose to get the car, but they both would be nice. It is probably too early for all the answers. But I hope I get them both.

Why should we already have to pay more and get less? We should all write to BMW Canada. Was their any literature that went out in Canada that refered to the engraving or book/certificate? As the majority of the literature on the car is american it sucks that it is going to be one of the first things that anyone who knows anything about cars is going to ask us owners about. It's not the end of the world, but for some of us first time BMW owners a little continuity in the models would have been nice.

Does anyone have an article from BMW Canada that states it will do the start button and the book? I've only ever seen it from BMW USA.

Like most other things, they should have just done the English engraving and then provided a clear sticker for the same phrase in French for those that seriously care. Satisfies government while pissing off the French.

I dont think that it is a language issue. I'm more than billingual by the way!!Do you think that somebody buying a 40K+has nothing more to do than complain about an engraving(people are busy taking care of there family and working). Ive never seen someone complain because it was written all wheel drive(not in french) or something else in or on a car. Most of the diehards seperatists are driving POS and are broke.....

No, I wouldn't think so either but you never know. All it takes is one person to complain and it's the legal obligations of the government to investigate. There's just cause even if there isn't precedent or that it would be a complete waste of time and tax payer's money.

Alright, if anyone can find the email for someone who deals with the Canadian ordering I will write to them and get this figured out.
Wow, that really grinds my gears.
