Bluetooth Audio Question
I just downloaded the Sirriuus Radio app to my Blackberry as I have been told that it is then possible to use my phone to send the radio to my Blutooth enabled car. When I go to the Audio button on the radio, it shows the Ipod, CD and tuner but I don't see anything that I can use for the phone. The car and the phone are already paired. Is what am trying to do possible or does BMW not allow for Bluetooth Audio. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

won't happen until the new software in Sept - only Ford Sync does that (from what little I know)
I just pray we get the software upgrade if you have the 09 MY electronics (: and even for free.. but I would pay a small fee for the overall upgrade - its supposed to be compatible to the sync system with voice for playlist, BT music etc.

Thanks for the info. Will check at the dealer next time I am in. Thought it was too good to be true. did not want to spend the $1000 to install satelite radio.

Stuboy, I believe the Bluetooth feature you are looking for is called A2DP streaming and it is not commonly supported yet on all Bluetooth devices.
I listen to a great podcast that I recommend - CNet Car Tech. They review cars and evaluate their "cabin tech" among all the other items. They also have a Q&A section on the show and a blog online with many questions about retrofitting nav and stereo to older cars. They get the "Bluetooth streaming" question all the time. Wikipedia - Bluetooth Profile (see A2DP) Wikipedia - Bluetooth CNet Car Tech Live Podcast (or via the iTunes Store) BTW, I just want to nominate Bluetooth as one of the worst non-standard standards that I've come across. Whether 2 devices want to work with each other at any point in time is often a crap shoot. And devices that worked together fine 100 times start having problems. Frustrating. At least my 135i and iPhone seem to like each other. BTW2, I've always proposed that BMW license out its electronics interface design to Apple. They could certainly design a better iDrive! I would be very interested in something like this as well as it's a pain to have to hook up the AUX cable to my blackberry to play music on the car's stereo. We can already transit phone audio from the blackberry to the car's stereo, so why not music audio as well?
Hmmffff... ianc |
