I would doubt it unless they were looking for it. Given the nature of the problem thats a possibilty I would say.

I have a BT scanner if you fancy giving it a quick scan before going to dealer to see if there is any error codes re fuel pump or anything.
Let me know.

[quote=ru55;5637388](think ive broke mine)
Were there any error codes ? if not, I recon its a bad map or working too close to the ollerance on some parameters in the ECU / engine capability. Did it always do it, or are there certain conditions that bring the fault to light, ie hot days, wet days etc ?

Are you going to look at another map or is it staying standard on the ECU front now? |

It was an intermittent fault…
N’ yeah I took it back to chippeduk and asked for it to be returned to stock. Since I’ve had the map taken off the car, the fault hasn’t happened, the accelerator is also a lot more responsive / sensitive. SO guess it was just a useless re-map that actually reduces performance of the 135i….im sure they do great maps for other cars, just NOT the 135…. Funny thing was….before chippeduk put my car back to normal, ‘they’ put a small electronic thing into the cars ECU, then told me to go and drive 3/4miles with this electronic thing in. So….I did 4 miles and returned….they took their electronic thing out of my car and disappeared into the office for 20mins. Then told me it’s showing a throttle error, the car needs the updated version 3 for the electronic accelerator communication to the engine…. So I just asked for the map to be taken off, and my stock one put back on. As soon as I got in my car to drive home it was like a different car! MUCH better! Anyways, took it to BMW Worcester the next day, they found no problems……..strange |

Think you need to try someone with a better reputation like AMD or DMS from what I've read elsewhere..

I really like the idea of an extra 50 ponies but I am nervous. I need to run the car in when I get it so it wouldnt be a purchase until the weather gets better in 2010 but it is going to be in my mind all the time.
What about the JB+. Looks simple to install and operate and left on standard setting without really winding up the boost it apparantly wont throw any error codes on the ECU. Its a minefield lol. |

Mike - I see you're in Berkshire. I'm in Reading 1 or 2 days a week - if you're around and would like a ride in my Evolve'd 135i, let me know.

Russ,
If you wanna meet up sometime we could put my JB3 on your car for you to see how it compares to your flash and the standard car? Let me know, it only takes like 10 mins to put it in.

Big thanks to CliveD. I met Clive last night for a quick spin and was thoroughly impressed with his car.
I have never been out in a standard 135 so can't comment on the Evolve remap but it is a very quick car and the delivery was very smooth. Thanks again Clive. I am collecting mine on Friday so will be well up for getting some events sorted after that. I am running a campsite within Silverstone weekend after next for the British Super Bikes and also the following weekend for the BritCar 500. A great chance to see some night racing if anyone is interested in coming down. Come for the day or bring a tent and have a few beers with us in the evening. |
