keyless entry/start button question
Hi Guys,
Looking at a 2011 135i and apparently, the car has a keyless entry but the keyfob itself has to be inserted into the dash to start the car. I didn't realize these features were separate. I had a '13 128i I sold that had keyless entry and the ability to start the car with the key in my pocket. Does anyone know what this specific feature is called and is it possible to add it after market? |

Check the door handles and see if you see the 3 lines border onto it where you tap with your finger to close. If it does not, the car does not have confort access and the key has to be inserted. If it does and the key has to be inserted, you need to code the keyfob. Hope this helps.

The feature is called convenient access in the owners manual. It will not be trivial or inexpensive to retrofit.
You will need radio receivers, new door handles, new ignition lock, and new key fobs just to mention a few items. The labour to install and code properly at a dealer would likely be $1k or more You might be lucky to find some of the required parts from a donor car at an auto recycler. If your car wasn't equipped with convenient access from thc factory, it probably will never be. |
