Yes, centers are still being powder coated.
I'm still working on sanding the barrels. I have two more to do with 600 grit wet sand, before I move on to the 800 grit. Then it's 1000, 1500, 2000... polish? lol Then clear coat Once it gets warmer outside I'm going to paint the hardware. Other than that my car is 3 colors right now and stanced on stock wheels with winter tires haha blue, gray, and carbon (ghetto fab)

How difficult is the whole refinishing process? I'm thinking about picking up some RS's or Impuls and getting them done up for the summer.
Looking great so far! |

Refinishing process scale of 1-10, 10 being most difficult, is probably around a 5-6. It's really not "difficult" per se. It's really more time consuming. For instance, each wet sand takes 30 minutes per wheel. So, 180, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000... then maybe some steel wool. Almost 20 hours of sanding, give or take. I'm about half way there. The hardest part is just getting all the corrosion off and then repairing any pitting and curb rash. After that it's just sanding. Makes your arms burn like crazy if you're looking for a good workout

You should be fine with the rears. I'm running 10.5's ET38. So .5" less and 4offset should fit. Front's though. Good luck lol.

Polished one wheel so far... I think it came out pretty good.
One is through 800 grit sanding.. The last two are through 600 grit sanding... There was a slight miscommunication with the powder coater, and they were holding off on doing the work... I got them back working on it and hopefully I get the centers back this week sometime. Almost got all the wrap off and now I just have to get all the residue off, which will be a slight pain in the ass, but oh well...

Ordered Spray Max 2k Glamour clear coat today... two cans.
Also ordered gold BBS decals that will go under the clear coat... I'm thinking opposite of the valve stem on the lip. Going to pick up a paint stripper, primer, and paint for the hardware today. Probably going to at least strip the paint today when I get home. 2 wheels are through their first stage of polish. I think I'm going to polish each 3-4 times to get the finish I want. 2 wheels are through 600 grit, and I hope to be able to do some more sanding today. I have to call and check on the powder coating today also. I need these to be done and ready to go April 12th... Ahhh, deadline!

Stripped the paint off the bolts using an aircraft paint remover. Left them in there for about 30 minutes. Agitated with a paint brush for about 5 minutes and then rinsed thoroughly with water. Let them dry and then created a bolt board for making painting easier. I'm going to prime and then paint so they hopefully look polished and somewhat match the polished aluminum.
One of these things is not like the others... lol Probably wondering why I'm doing so much work for the bolts... well I pay attention to detail and original BBS hardware actually has a BBS cast into the head of the bolt... unfortunately BBS will not easily sell you hardware, and all the knock-offs do not have the BBS on the head... call me a little OCD, I don't care... oh and this will still show if painted. I almost forgot I need to order a TPMS rebuild kit... so I will do that tomorrow. I've decided to not paint the wheel studs. They are zinc coated black, I believe??? I got all the rust off and they look good. They will hardly be seen anyways with the extended lugs.

Bolts are primed... waiting for warmer weather to do the finish coats
Picking up the centers on Monday!! Hopefully going to finish polishing this weekend. Then need some nice weather to clear coat... Will probably test fit prior to clear coat in case anything happens? Still have vinyl left on the front bumper and side skirts... and residue all over the car. Ordered some Rapid Remover to hopefully speed up the process.

Sp*****x 2k. Supposed to be the same clear coat a professional shop would use. The key is prepping the aluminum.
