Gray Poplar Trim, too much glare with direct sunlight?

Does anybody that has had this trim on a past BMW feel the trim shine is distractive when driving (like if direct sun hits the trim)?

My current Audi A3 has aluminum trim rings around the vents in the upper dash, and they becoming blinding at times during nice CA summer days when the sun comes in through the front winshield. I like the gray poplar, but it looks so shiny, just worried about excess glare with direct sun shining in.

Thanks

I have the light poplar (not the gray poplar) trim on my e90, but it has the exact same gloss finish on it as the 1er's gray poplar. I never had the issue that you're describing.

I don't know if that helps, but I think it's comparing apples to apples, or at least close enough.

Couple months back, the BMW Brest Cancer caravan tooled through town. I drove 3 different cars with variations on the gloss-finished wood with all 3 exhibiting considerable, sometimes distracting, reflection directly into your eyes. Seems the angle at which the trim is mounted was ideal for the conditions. The aluminum trim on those beaters, while absolutely hammered from public abuse, did not reflect as did the high-gloss wood.

Have not notice any shine/glare from my wood trim in my 5. I do have a slight tint on my windows though. I am getting the wood, for some reason the aluminum looks cheap. I like other aluminum trim but this one is ehhh.

Further proof that BMW should offer a low gloss grey poplar option. I would gladly pay extra $$ for something that looked like this...

It's similar to the color in my E55. Nothing to worry about as far as glare goes.

Glacier aluminum is standard; either of the wood trims is available for $500 as a stand-alone option or included in the premium package ($3,600).
