Chips in Black Breytons, what to do?
I had a guy look at my Breytons that have a couple of chips in them from rocks I guess. they chip way to easy it seems. He said he cant match the color because it is not a true black which you can tell by looking at them. I can use some black touch up paint but that may look bad.
Anyone know if Breyton has a touch up paint you can get or a paint code? I go tmy wheels from Tire Pros that got them through Tire Rack, and my tire place has no idea what to do.

A body shop should be able to easily match the paint color for you but that's likely to be pricey for even a pint.
A true black would would look a lot better than rock chips, IMO. You could also cut black with another color to get a desired shade if necessary. It's all up to you.

You can get a standard black from automotivetouchup for a fraction of the cost of having it custom blended and it will probably like just as good.

I did that. You can still tell but it's WAY better than the white/silver showing through.

How long have you owned your Breyton's? I am getting ready to buy a set and I am concerned about this. Also, overall have you been happy with your wheels? |

What about wheel corrosion over time? I would be affraid of that.
Where there are chips you will have corrosion. And then what cracking? Do these wheels have any TUV or safety test approval? |

Yes the wheels are TUV approved. It's just the paint. Had the same happen to my stock wheels as well.

I have had mine for 2 years 20k miles. They have held up very nicely. You have to expect some chips obviously, especially with black painted wheels. The chips are from road debris (probably @ 150mph none the less) and there are only a couple of them on 3 of the wheels. I would say that they are very high quality wheels.

Breytons are a top tier rim maker, specifically for BMW (mini) and have the most stringent, TUV for sure, approval ratings. I do know what you can do, send them to me and I' "take care" of them for awhile...er for you. Actually though look for a wheel repair shop and they should be able to match/get the paint and fix them for you. I've got two friends running them and they'd both has them detailed/chip repaired. I'm seriously looking into these for my 135 and the wifes Mini.
p.s. ley me know if ya need my mailing address for wheel shipment |

I've used nail polish with good results for scratches on mine. Overall, they hold up pretty well but as with any painted rim they will get scratches and nicks from time to time.

Mine are heading into their 4th season and they have held up very well...both paint and structure. I have no complaints.

I've had a few nicks in the paint. I bought some generic flat black touch up paint from an auto store and it's matched fairly well. You can notice when they are perfectly clean and you look real close.
