I think it was worth the cost. I didn't like the throw on the stock shifter very much, it was just a bit too long and not precise enough for me. I don't know if they will lower the price on the BMW SSK kit in any foreseeable future, but that is my opinion.

I'm down. Oh yeah, I ran a 13.2 1/4mi. sat. (shoddy 2.2 60') I doubt it would have been that low without the ssk. I love it. If you don't drive very agressively, you don't REALLY need it. But anybody that knows how a shifter SHOULD feel (performance wise) would know they have to swap the stock one out. Definately want the CDV next.

I am in the middle of installing the SSK right now. Before I remove the heat shield, I just wanted to confirm that there isn't anything that is going to become tricky during it's re-installation.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes. I finished it that evening. Most of the time after finishing something new, I always feel like it could be done quicker after getting through the initial learning curve. The shifter on this car, however, was a complete PITA and I really don't think I could save any time if I had to do it again. There were no surprises, but it was just a pain.

If you don't have a lift, it will be hell to install. Drive up ramps don't do enough...

I did have the car on jack stands with good room under the car to work. Ramps do not provide enough space to work under this car. There were no special tools required and I wouldn't necessarily say that there was a hardest part. It's just that you are working between the tunnel and the driveshaft, so there isn't much room to work. It's a space that is maybe twice the thickness my hands given the insulation in the tunnel, so it was just a PITA.

The BMW SSK works great -- no issues. I highly recommend this mod.

Have to agree with that, best £300 I've spent on a mod for my car.

Any updated step by step instructions with pics on this (not the 335i one)? With the GB going on in the commercial forum, people will be looking for this (especially me).

There are going to be a-lot more ssk's floating around and I am sure there are some brave enough to DIY. I would like to but I want to see the process first.
