Engine Malfunction!!!!

I got the dreaded light on my way home from work. I was cruising on the highway in 6th gear when the light came on. There was no stuttering like others experienced but it did have loss of power. I drove it straight to the dealership and when they went to turn it back on the light was gone and the power was back to normal. It also cranked right away unlike other people's experience of it having to take 4-5 seconds for the engine to turn over. It was the end of the day anyways so I drove it back home. Later, I drive it to dinner with my family and the light comes back on but the power is normal. Any ideas? Is it the HPFP? The car is stock except for a few trim pieces and the CDV delete.

i dropped the car off this morning and they told me it had brought up some codes and the turbo's had indeed been deactivated. I asked which codes specifically but the service advisor didn't know. I suggested that maybe the HPFP was the culprit but he said that the codes did no suggest that so now I have no idea what it could have been.

What did they do to fix it? A software update?

I'm betting you got the random misfire codes like some of us have had. I've seen other board members have a bad coil and a bad low pressure pump that caused similar symptoms. Let us know what they end up doing for it!

3rd day of the car being in and they still don't know. They are sending correspondence back and forth between Germany apparently. They said it had something to do with the intake pressure but I have not done any mods. I'll keep you guys updated.

Ok the dealership just called and apparently the front waste gate came apart so they had to order an entirely new turbo unit. This sounds horrible considering the car only has 5000 miles on it and I haven't done any real modding. I just hope it fixes the problem entirely and there are no lasting effects on the rest of the motor.

wow kind of scary,

I am taking mine in tomorrow due to long cranks and hopefully will get the new HPFP and also for the cracked trunk mounted brake light issues.

Do you think they'll Dyno the car after the turbo install? Is there a break in period for a new turbo?

I've been having the same half-power issue...Thus far it has happened on 5 separate occasions. Took it to the dealer last Friday and they went through a LONG list of fault codes including turbo, exhaust, and fuel pump problems. They don't know where to start so I am bringing it back next monday to have them look more closely at it (tear it apart)...I was told to get it in to them if I had any more problems. So I am on my way in to the dealership today again due to getting the same error not 12 hours after having the car in Friday.
Frankly, I am a bit apprehensive to hear what they find. If it was just a new turbo that wouldn't be so bad but it seems like it might be a bit more than that..

mine was throwing codes regarding the intake. They found in the end that some connector rod for the front waste gate was broken so they had to replace the entire turbo unit. Yours sounds like a different issue. Good luck with it though!
