*FINALLY* Carbon Fiber Roof & Hood ARRIVE

My long awaited carbon fiber parts started arriving. The Hood & Roof are here. The CSL trunk, hopefully later this week, as well as the fenders. The thing that sucks is all these parts are made to order, so generally they tell you 6-8 weeks, and that doesn't include the shipping.

Figure freight shipping is anywhere from 4-8 weeks, depending where you are located. There is NO way i could wait another 2 months. Some people might not think its worth it, but i paid the $1400 to have it in 5 days.

I know you dont have the csl trunk yet but are there any prelim picks of it. I thought this would always look good on our 135's.

Nice, now if you don't mind me asking, how much did that run you? and where did you have it made?

Also, what you planning to do about the finish? It looks like you need to put some clear coat or something on those pieces.

Any reason you didn't go with a seibon OEM style hood and you had that one made? The pics I've seen of the seibon looks like it had pretty good fitment.

Yea, i have it now. Fitment isn't bad. They only look good when you first purchase them and for 3-6 months. Then they start to look like ASS. AND if you call and try to get it replaced under their warranty, HA, FORGET IT! Aint happening. What warranty?

Had a SEIBON CSL trunk lid on my 3 series. The thing didn't seal the trunk correctly and my car wouldn't start one day. I went back to check the battery and water filled the battery cove and actually completely covered it.

The Roof is $1899 PLUS shipping, hood was $1699, and trunk lid was $1799. Made in Europe...

That is the only thing, they dont finish them. They brought up a good point about damage and shipping. If carbon fiber parts get damaged in shipping, usually it's the clear coat that cracks easy. So they shipped everything to me unfinished.

That sure does add up, especially considering you still need to finish them and the install on the roof isn't going to be cheap. That said these are custom pieces, so I guess the price isn't too bad.

Anyway, can't wait to see these installed.

Im kind of a noob on this, but how does the full replacement work? Do they remove your existing roof and weld this to the body somehow? any idea on pricing to get this isntalled?

I know this will probably be expensive as hell but I would be down for replacing my entire roof with a lighter CF roof.

To replace the roof is a huge job.
First you've to remove your front and rear windshield (not too hard, but troublesome, just make sure you don't crack those hehe)
Then, comes the fun part, drilling out all the spot wield that attach the roof to the car.
Fix all the holes you drilled out, probably wield a new piece on top of them or something.
Glue the new roof in.
Attach the sharkfin and other things from your oem roof.
reinstall windshield
Start Bragging being the first 1er to have a CF roof

I can only dream of having a CF Roof...

OverBoostinBimmers: have you thought about wielding a metal cross bar on your roof, much like a stock M3? that would give the car a bit more structural strength, probably help the roof to stay there since it won't twist as much.
